I was never good at the casino in DQ and I honestly never, ever got the appeal of gambling in general. But I'll try it here since I want to survive the full Ambrosia run.

I heard Code Breaker is good for money?

So I beat the SEBEC path. Sadly, my hopes regarding the Alaya shrine were dashed and it turned out Nanjo, Mark and Reiji had some significant catching up to do. The entire endgame was a slog. The final dungeon was super long and it took forever to max the ultimate personas. At least it turned out that maxing them was pretty much all you needed to make the final battle cakewalk. This is pretty much the main deal with this game - the boss battles (or any battles with one enemy on the field) aren't hard at all, but the massive numbers of demons in random battles combined with the infuriating dungeon design and random encounter rate, all make for a game that isn't really challenging as much as it is frustrating. A test of endurance, pretty much. But I liked it, overall, and feel much better about it than before, happy that I can finally say that I've beaten it. Don't think I'll be coming back to it, though.

So I've started preparations for the Snow Queen Quest. Grinding in Mikage Castle for now and I'll be heading for the Casino soon. I'm a bit worried because I've always sucked in video game gambling (aside from Pokemon Heart Gold's Voltorb Flip, which was awesome) so I need to git gud quick. I just hope I have the patience.

Ah, I see. I mainly ask because sometimes I want to respond to individual points in your top games topic but not hijack the thread, and I do like the semi-realtime back and forth of a text chat.

I do have a US account so I'll probably do that. But there's two problems. 1) The US PSN account won't accept EU credit cards, so I need to buy an Amazon gift card to an American friend (last time it was Pumpkin) can buy me a PSN card code that I can then enter into my US PSN account. They've made it as cumbersome as possible. Thank God at least changing accounts on the PSP isn't as hard as on the Vita. 2) No hay dinero The move and home furnishing is eating up all my cash. So this'll take a while.

Yeah, that's what I'll probably do. Hope I can get my Internet installed at home soon so I can download Innocent Sin to play after SQQ. Then maybe I can figure out a way to finally play EP

I know. I've also decided that if I really can't get all the demons in the final dungeon, I'm not gonna bother with Vishnu. I don't care about the game enough to max everything and beat all the optional dungeon has to offer just to get a Persona that's basically bragging rights (same with Lucifer, who seems to be really interesting in this game). I'd rather just start the Snow Queen Quest after finishing this route, tbh.

According to my googling (which turned up surprisingly vague), it looks like they might actually rejoin at the MC's level. We'll see. I'll try to get him up to 65 anyway, since grinding is a breeze here.

Btw, do you recall if the party split in the Alaya Cavern works like the previous ones? I.e. the other party members will rejoin me at the same level as my protagonist? Because this place is very easy to grind in and it'd be swell if I could just grind until I'm ultimate persona-level and be able to just fuse them away after coming out.

Discord is a chatting software, and has replaced EoFF's IRC channel earlier this year. It's taken a lot of the internet by storm recently, and EoFF has a server. It's the rightmost option in the Frontsite, Forum, Blogs ... toolbar.

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
