Hard to tell, tbh. On the one hand, I think there's still part of Atlus that remains faithful to that punk attitude that made SMT unique in the first place, but then again, with Persona being its biggest cash cow, it would be pretty much suicide to do away with social links, for example.

Just please, let anyone but the Devil Survivor team handle it, for the love of God.

Can't really remember that battle, so I'll get to see if it's that fun soon! Though I don't know how much I'll get to play today. I'll get there soon though!

Also, apparently Hashino and his crew stepped down from Persona to work on that fantasy game. Now I wonder - does that mean we'll have to wait for Persona 6 until after this is done, or is Persona getting a new team again? Because that would be exciting. Another change to the formula, with Persona 6 being the new Persona 3 in that regard.

It looks like it was just what I needed, though. Ticking demons off the list makes it really exciting. I only have around 50 demons left, and considering those 92 flew by, it makes me optimistic. Feels like I'm actually achieving somethign in this game, rather than just stumbling blindly like before

Oh yeah, I'm in Deva Yuga now and just got Narukami, my second Fool Persona! Can't use him yet though since I'm level 45 and it's level 47. Oh Persona.

I'll do my best. But it's still lame considering Vishnu is on the cover and is the de facto ultimate persona of the main character. But eh, what can you do.

Also, according to my guide, Alice isn't recruitable?

    Ugh. Lame.

Where is this optional dungeon and what is it called?

If all goes well, I'll jump right into the SQQ after this playthrough. From what I checked, the SEBEC route is pretty short and I'm kind of slowly nearing the end? I still want Vishnu, though, so I'll probably need to spend some time grinding...

It's definitely grown on me, now that I have a focus and know what I'm doing. It's weird. As I'm playing it, all the criticism I had of it still stand - the plot is stupid, the dungeons have pretty terrible designs compared to SMT1, Strange Journey and Soul Hackers, and the battle system is a hot mess, and I still believe SMT1 has aged waaaaay better despite being an older game. But, with that said, I'm just enjoying myself way more. Also, the character interactions are pretty amusing. Mark and Nanjo are the perfect comedic duo. I ship them hard.

For a moment I was worried I wouldn't be able to complete my Vishnu run because Kuchisake-onna would not respond to anything with eagerness, but then I got lucky on one battle and all was good. Too bad I'm now having the same problem with Orthrus, but I'm hoping I can get over that too. Btw, after grinding a bit more at the Lost Forest before leaving it, I now have zero problems recruiting anyone in Mana Castle, though Nanjo is still lagging far behind. Speaking of, Mana Castle was a fairly enjoyable dungeon, but way less complex than Kama Palace, which surprised me. Am I correct in assuming that they made the middle dungeon the most complex one in the game? That doesn't seem like a smart choice.

Also, I think you'll be pleased to hear that I've actually moved along with my project. My fanfic is coming along and I should be able to post some more of it once I get a working internet connection at home!

So, because of your list, I decided to power through the third act of Dragon Quest V (an amazing game, but the pacing starts to die once they drop the episodic structure of the dungeons. Do all of the games suffer from that?) and now I've bought Dragon Quest III on my Android. Still super early, but I'm loving it so far!

Side note: I see your conversation w/ Fynn and I totally agree on the SMT fanbase. Haven't been on the reddit, but they always kinda struck me as toxic elitist snobs.

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
