I mean, I still haven't beaten the game, so we might get more. The Wild Hunt in general is a cool concept, but it just gets explored much more in the books - but is also kind of a secondary thing, so it's neat how the game brings it to the forefront. I'm just surprised so many people enjoy this game so much when the game's presentation of the antagonist so far feels fairly simple if you don't know the stuff Geralt knows at this point.

And as for shinchan - that's amusing since it's usually the opposite XD And those Ghost Story scenes were amazing. As one YouTube commenter put it: "Ghost Story: The Otiginal Abridged Series"

Another thing I noticed that really reinforces my opinion that it's much better to play the Witchers after reading the books - in the games themselves, the main villain feels really flat. He's like a generic tin titan that has like, two lines per game and does stuff just for the sake of being evil. But if you know the things you would from encountering him in the books, he becomes much more ambiguous, nuanced, and interesting.

You mean Shin-chan wasn't like that in Japanese?

To be fair, though, now that I'm an adult, my perspective on that being tired is a bit... different

    (SPOILER)

I'll check out the vide o later. But is that the anime that had the conversation about bunnies and having sex without protection in it?

Yeah. It really hits powerfully. Especially when you see the HP cost for Great Seal...

I still liked those life scenes, tbh, but what 3 did for me is that I really felt it had a much stronger cast - compared to 4 it didn't feel like it was designed to be likeable, but realistic.

Also, keep an eye on Psy's thread, lol. The game is coming very soon and it has my stuff in it

At least you'll be done with this atrocity soon

Nah, I tease a lot, but Persona 1 had some really interesting ideas going for it, it just has certain design quirks that make my blood boil. I certainly appreciate what it was trying to achieve and that the potential it had got expanded on so substantially in the following installments. I might still give it another roll someday. No promises, though

I was also very happy yesterday when my wife told me that although she enjoyed playing P4G more, she thinks 3 had a much better story I'm so glad there are people who give P3 the respect it deserves rather than just remember it as "oh yeah that one game that came before one of the best PS2 RPGs of all time that's pretty skippable".

So how much more do you have left?

    Well that's interesting!

I've come to the conclusion that I like jerks in fiction because they're usually more layered than the "nice" protagonists as they really get room for depth and growth - dare I say, it even makes them more realistic. Like, in Witcher 3 your Default love interest is returning from the books and she's kind of a bitch. She's very sarcastic, she does whatever the bell she wants and really doesn't care about anyone else's feelings at all when she's doing her thing. She wants other people to trust her while not trusting anyone herself. It's interesting that she comes back now as another character from the books was the default love interest in the previous two games and she's sweet and kind... too bad she took advantage of the fact that the protagonist forgot everything, including the fact that he loves someone else

So yeah, I'll take the jerky but honest characters over the nice yet manipulative ones any day of the week

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
