BTW, for all the hate I've heard from the story (no details, thankfully)< I've heard some people compare the narrative to FFT, Vagrant Story, Tactics Ogre, and MGS3. Don't know how much of that is true and how much is an exaggeration, but it makes me even more confident that this has at least gone in a direction that I tend to enjoy

Well, that sounds cool! And yeah, I know what you mean. Back during my MA studies I was always the one in the group who pointed out things wrong with specific translations we would workshop, and though I honestly pointed out the flaws with the goal of making the translation better, it certainly didn't win me any fans.

I'm kinda betting you won't be able to hold out once you have it Unless you're not buying it until you beat Setsuna. have you pre-ordered it?

That's pretty similar to how I think, honestly

My mind has a tendency to overthink and over analyze, and the focus on the negative is something I'm just trying to actively fight against

I try to keep a balanced approach. I can scare my girlfriend with how I feel that society would totally fall apart if suddenly we lost all our electricity, for example, as I'm really confident we'd all be at each other's throats no matter how virtuous we might consider ourselves right now. I'm only optimistic in the original sense of the world, really - that the outcome we have for anything is the best possible outcome that we could have hoped for in the circumstances we currently are.

The hope I told you about stems more from a kind of stubbornness, really. I usually see that things can go either way, but I still want to give everything a fair chance and hope they can do good.

Lol, still been ages since I'd considered myself an optimist

    Still, thanks

Who is Kir? Should I take that as a complement?

Don't worry. If there's anything I am that I'm proud of, is that I'm very persistent in my faith Whether it's God, other people, or FFXV, I'll believe in them until the very end.

Heck, I believed in FFXIII until I got to play it myself! And even though it was the most tedious gaming experience I ever had, I don't regret believing in it because I got to experience it on my own terms. And I am 100% sure that even if everything else about FFXV fails, it will still be a very fun game. But even now I am still very confident it'll be great and I can't wait to play it

I really, really hope this is a success.

Yep, pretty much. Which is why I try to pay attention to specific details they mention instead of opinions. And it looks like there's a lot of thing I'll like.

    It... kinda already is.

Though from what I notice, there's far more people who are completely dismissive of the game based on some things they read than there are rabid fanboys who think it can't fail. But yeah, of those who have played, the divide is pretty much like I stated before.

Of course, this is mostly reddit. GameFAQs is apparently filled with haters who are shouting at everyone to not buy it.

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
