    Might try that later.

So how's that MegaTen progress coming along?
  2. View Conversation
Yeah. The dude said I should show it to people in the village. i'm pretty sure I showed it to everyone.

So now it turns out that through this new thing called Traveller's Tablets you can really abuse the vocation system since they have relatively high level caps. I tried not to abuse it too much, but now that I'm in the desert, everyone's at their third job (Shepherd, Martial Artist and Troubadour).

And I think I'm stuck. The story tells me to talk to all the villagers there because they can have some clues as to waking the great serpent of the Nihil river, but I've talked to everyone and I've been to the river bank area and nothing's happening

Also, just noticed this, because I hadn't known Kiefer's dad had a name change. So his name is now Donald. And I am laughing so hard at that because I never noticed the connection before.

    Aw, that was really nice!

Finishing DQIX sounds like a good idea because then you can help me once I get there I'm a bit disappointed that DQVIII got delayed because I was hoping I'd have it around Christmas and then jump into IX right after, but alas. I also don't intend to skip over to IX because I feel playing them in order is part of what made this series so enjoyable to me. It's nice to see the progression, how the ideas changed, etc. Still, can't wait for VIII either way. While the screenshots had me a bit worried, after I saw how much better DQVII looks on an actual 3DS rather than on a video, and after I heard people saying how amazing the Japanese version looks and plays, I really, really can't wait. (let's just hope they don't remove the orchestral music this time )

I guess I'll try to max these vocations then. After this, I plan to give Ruff Martial Artist, Maribel will get Priest, and I intended for my hero to be a thief, but then that heart showed up, so I may actually make him a healslime before I make him a thief, idk. In any case, I intend to master all the basic vocations I need before moving on to the intermediate ones, so Ruff will still get the Priest and Shepherd (can't resist making a wolf in sheep's clothing even though he doesn;t need it for his advanced class), Maribel will get Dancer, Troubadour and Jester, while the hero will get Thief, Shepherd, Warrior and Martial Artist. Can't wait to get Mervyn because I always liked the Armamentalist class but felt it was underutilized. It was like one of the only one or two advanced vocations that couldn't result in the hero.

Oh, by the way, I checked. The Godhand is now called the Champion, while the Summoner is now called the Druid. I kinda like them, although it's kinda funny to me how the Druid is a prestige class in this game.

DQV and VI weren't exactly short either, and I remember VIII being much longer than average, though I guess they've all still got nothing on VII. What I mean to say by this is that I've never really considered DQ games short, I and II notwithstanding.

So I've liberated Alltrades Abbey and am now handling the desert island. I have to say, the vocations are coming along pretty quick! Sister is a Sailor, Ruff is a warrior and Maribel is a mage, and they're all rank 6 already. Granted, I stopped to grind a bit, knowing that there's a cap, but still, I'm impressed with how fast this is going.

I also recently found a Gealslime heart and I'm considering giving it to the hero. Not sure if it's totally worth it, since he knows Heal and Midheal by default, it I'm pretty sure this will let him get the healing spells he couldn't otherwise get AND they'll be his for keeps. Since he won't keep the save vocation skills if I take him that route, I thought it might be worth giving him those Healslime spells, though I'm still not fully decided.

Yeah, I get you. When you binge on one series, you end up getting tired of it if you don't play anything else in the meantime.

Oddly, Dragon Quest may actually be the exception for me. I mean, I've bascially played I to VI non-stop and with no other series to distract me and I didn't feel like I'd had enough. In fact, I was sad there wasn't more. Funny how that works!

Went to the cave once and got tricked by Fingers the thief. The nerve of that guy!

Also, this is the second hopeless boss fight in a row! I wonder how many more there'll be here!

I actually jumped into DDS2 right after the first game and I'm actually really happy I did that, as I was already in the zone by the end of the first game, which made me basically breeze through the second.

Well, I am at the Alltrades Abbey island now. The dude just stripped me of all my abilities. This should be fun.

Ok, those bonuses sound pretty sweet! Do you intend to go with an NG+ and beat Demi-Fiend before going DDS2?

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
