I disagree. Just met him. Gabo means nothing in English and in Japanese it's an onomatopoeia for wolf growls. Ruff really makes much more sense, and I like it better, personally.

Btw, I heard the 3DS version of DQ VIII adds the option of marrying Jessica which is... baffling, to say the least. I don't think I've ever seen pandering so shameless in a game.

And yeah, I also have a gift card-related conundrum. Basically got one worth 100 PLN for my birthday at work. Saw a collection of all three of the Witcher games with all expansions, plus the PC version of the board game - the entire bundle cost 150. Considering the third game alone usually costs around 150-160 this is an incredible steal. BUT we already have the first game and it was a hand-me-down from Ania's sister. So I'm kinda stumped on what to do.

No, from what I've read of it, I think I should do fine. It helps that it's just an element of the job system this time around, so hey, that's great.

And yeah, it's been a while since I played that game and by then my only JRPG experience was FF so I wasn't used to the challenge. This time, having beaten multiple SMT games and the rest of the DQ series, I think I'll do fine. And I'll keep your template in mind for the VIII characters because it seems to make sense.

Yeah, I always had trouble with that. I mean, I liked giving Jessica whips, but then I found out she won't learn her best spells unless she has a lot of points invested in staves. Luckily, I've heard her whip skill has been nerfed for the 3DS version, so I'll probably end up investing in staves and sex appeal exclusively. Same for Angelo - it's a shame he looks so good both with a sword and bow.

And then the main character only learns thunder skills if he invests in spears! Who invests in spears! Like, there's no more logical choice of weapon for a hero than a sword! And then Yangus has like three completely interchangeable weapons, the way I see it, and I'm really lost as to which is the coolest.

This game and Diablo II are the reason point-build systems give me anxiety.

Yeah. It's one of the reasons why I can't wait to play it again. The others are that I haven't beaten it yet and that I really liked some of the characters, like Jessica and Yangus.

I'm really dreading the point-build system, though.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I still like it. I just probably would have liked it much better had I not played VIII before.
