You should really do yourself a favor and get the Enhanced Edition I wasn't a fan of the first game at first, really, and the gameplay there has become severely dated, but the EE really improves on that and everything is so nice and smooth now and it's much more fun to play.

Yeah, it's really the reason why some characters are considered OP in BG - they just have broken equipment that can only be used by them. But then, you can use classes that no other party member has and gain gear restricted to that class, and you'll end up just better than anyone else anyway. But still, yeah, gear is super important.

Now that I'm replaying Baldur's Gat I have this newfound appreciation of how gear-dependent this game is. You only reach a maximum of level ten in the first game (that is if you play a thief, because each class requires different amounts of exp to level up - for example, I managed to reach level 7 as a fighter, then dual-classed to a cleric and reached level 7 in that and I can no longer level up because of the cap), but levels really don't change much. They influence your HP, your to-hit rate, and the number of spells per day for spellcasters. You can never really change your base stats aside from some very special items that are super rare, so all your offensive power and defensive capabilities are dependent on the gear you find because, some rare exceptions notwithstanding, the gear you can buy becomes pretty irrelevant pretty early on.

I do enjoy this game. I like its challenge and job system. Its no ffv but it is good for its time. It has more music than the others but overall id say ff2 has the better music. I do like this ost so far though.

and ofcourse. After I have beat garuda I am faced with a worse challenge. A dreaded midget dungeon. I hate these places so much. They are cool but I hate how restricted I am in them. Forced to use mages even though I like a more balanced party. The small inventory size does not help me either. So it isnt just a simple "oh I should chsnge to a mage" when I have to have inventory space. I could use the fat chocobo but im not really sure what items I need for the next dungeons so I be safe and keep everything. So yeah thats annoying.

So what do you think of 3 compared to 1 and 2?
  6. View Conversation
Well. Yeah its tough. I think its better than 1 but worse than 2. So.... id say its worse than 8 and better than 13 aswell. I musnt be far as im only lvl 24

Oh. That dragoon gear will definatly help. Thank you so much.

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
