Yeah, all the extra fluff is meaningless if you can't have functionality. The battery is not as big an issue in Ruby, though, since saving doesn't use it anymore. You'd just have a screwed up clock, so no berry growing and no evolutions based on time of day.

Aw man, yeah, it does sound like your internal battery's busted :/ But I heard you can replace them somehow, but that means you'll most likely end up spending more money on that.

As for myself, I barely got my fifth badge. I actually got whited out for the first time in the game. The fifth gym leader has That One Pokemon on his team. Seriously, if you don't keep your guard up, he'll one-hit-KO your whole party. It was ridiculous.

Aw Well, I love gorillas but wasn't a huge fan before I started studying linguistics and when I heard of Coco the gorilla I instantly knew that gorillas are the best due to how fierce looking they are despite being incredibly loving, calm, empathetic, and most of all smart. They may not be as cute or majestic as canines and felines. But I find them beautiful nonetheless.

Oh yeah, that makes sense. I generally dislike grass as a type as well since they mostly rely on status changing and draining moves, and I kinda want my starters to have more, ahem, firepower.

Surprised you don;t like monkeys since they're always my favorite point of any zoo aside from the big cats! But to each their own, I guess But yeah, I also usually prefer designs that are similar to animals I like. And since I like a lot of animals, that's a lot XD Mostly biased towards mammals though, I feel, which really makes me glad that fire types have always been mammals snce generation IV (and gen II also had a mammal, so yay!)

In general, I find I'm very accepting of all designs. Each generation has a different aesthetic to it and I really don't think there ever was one that offended me or something, as I know some people say. There's the two memes - either "I stopped playing Pokemon when they start looking like Neo Pets" and "Back in my day Pokemon were based on dragons, birds and mythical beasts, while now they're based on chandeliers, gears and ice cream. All I'm saying is I feel bad for the kids today."

Really, all gens have good and bad designs and I know it sound super lame but I liked them all and I don't think I've ever disliked a starter's design Heck, the only reason I like the gen I designs the least is due to how a lot of people react to it. Which is kinda sad and I wish I could handle it better
