    Uggghhhh

You know what, okay. The game looks great as is. I'm confident it will be good, and if it's successful and they decide to add sequels later with just as much effort and passion out into it, I'm fine with that. Just don't push for more games before XV's release please

    Thank God for TabatA, seriously

Yeah, I can see that. Though on the other hand, the material is already familiar to the fanbase considering how everyone had their eyes on the development process, so, who knows? In any case, yeah, I would also prefer XV to be self-contained, but on the bright side, at least it's not three games instead of one. A movie and 5-episode anime (with 10-minute episodes) are comparatively easy to catch up on.

Well, Ive seen the first episode and it's aight. It's really more about promoting the game than being an anime on its own, so it's good for what it is. Nicely showcases the character personalities.

I'm on the fence about the movie, though. I mean, it's cool that we get Regis' perspective, but I don't like how off-model the characters are and that they brought big-name actors just for the movie for important characters that won't reprise their roles in the games. I mean, I don't know about Sean Bean, but I know Lena Headey isn't gonna voice Luna in-game

I haven't played the demo for either, but I heard the second one is really worth it as it's more like chapter 0 for Bravely Second. You still shouldn't play it before you beat BD because spoilers

Definitely. I'm a big fan of deconstruction, personally, so I'm very fine with that

    So the FFXV thing exploded

Can't speak for Bravely Second just yet, but Bravely Default also nicely deconstructs the classic crystals narrative. Sadly, that leads into the game's fatal flaw, but I still think that it works great with the narrative. The religion of evil that has been done to death in JRPGs is also handled incredibly well!

I have to play that someday!

Yeah, thought you might like that Though I know that there is a way to get all the missing jobs much later, but all that is still entirely optional. Actually, besides the first four and penultimate four jobs, none of the jobs in Bravely Default were necessary.

Still, it's a pretty great series so far and I hope they keep making more. Default had one gigantic flaw but was pretty excellent besides that, and now I see Second has even more improved gameplay, I hear that one flaw is gone, but sadly, the composer and lead writer have been replaced. The music has grown on me, however, and the writing seems good so far with some of the meta stuff kept in, so we'll see how it goes later.

So you just have to play these once you get 4 Heroes of Light over with

Yeah, it was pretty okay, though I'm probably even more tired than before.

Bravely Second is great so far. There's a couple strange design choices that actually make the game pretty unique, which I think you might like. For example, there's quite a bit of new jobs, but you can't gain access to all jobs from Default until much later. First you have to make a choice within a sidequests. For example, in my last sidequest I had a moral dilemma posed to me and depending on my choice on how to resolve it, I'd either unlock the red mage or the thief.

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
