It may work better in the end, you know? Knowing that I have this word limit actually made me think of creative ways to compress my story that really I think worked out for the best as now the pacing that I have in my head just seems way more, uh... better. I was gonna use a better adjective

I've actually joined a sci-fi/fantasy group on scrib. They seem like a cool bunch.

While Ibe just come up with an idea that will change the plot of the first book substantially, and though it works much better, it's still a really sudden and unexpected change

By the way, what's your target word count? I heard your debut manuscript should be 80-90k words maximum. Idk why. Maybe they just don't want to risk it with new writers?

Well, that sounds interesting! It would be cool to have this rich universe where you can set more stories! And the Global War idea also sounds really good.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I have stories like that in mind for both Fool's Journey and Crosswords. The first one would follow the older Thaumaturges years before the events of the story took place, as I think that would be interesting to explore, while for the latter I had an idea for a story starring Ian and Freddie and their quest to adopt a baby after the whole disc nonsense.

Hey, you can always write those in-between chapters if you want writing practice or just can't force yourself to write anything of your novel. A change of pace can really help get inspired!

Well, with your story it's easier with the names,. because it's pretty divorced from the real world, while mine is kinda 20 minutes into the future, kinda not? It's vague. For now. Still, I kinda need the names to make it feel natural, I think. We'll see how it goes.

And I've also been thinking of sidestories! Those can be pretty cool ideas for shorts later
