I think he is downright the weakest, period. Garland has way more charisma, and that's not even touching the David Bowieness of the Emperor and the moral complexity of Xande.

I've heard about it. I also love how screwing destiny is apparently the main theme but they end up doing so by doing exactly what the big bad wants XD "Oh well, gotta kill Orphan I guess."

    But damn, Barthandelus is terrible.

I just feel this plot could have been good in better hands. I swear, for the entire first ten chapters every single dialogue in cutscene was the exact same conversation: "We're l'Cie! Enemies of Cocoon."

I also heard that the decent characters don't get any attention in the sequels. The only ones that get more attention are Snow and Hope and that just makes me cringe. Won't miss Vanille, though.

Exactly. I did around 30 missions and that was enough. I am now in chapter 12 and I'm hoping this will all be over really soon. I really just wanna finish the game ASAP.

But it did give me hope that XIII-2 will be fun to play, since people say that one does away with The Tube and there's tons of stuff to do, even if the plot is even more nonsensical.

So my mom's computer is really powerful and it turns out Steam automatically records my save files on a cloud drive, so I went a bit further in FFXIII. So far I've reached Gran Pulse. And guess what? I really like it. But it also made me hate the game itself more. The place has by far the least annoying and repetitive scenes, I can finally stick with the only decent people in the party (Sazh, Fang and Lightning), and I actually get a minimally less ristricted access to the crustarium. That and the world is beautiful and I was surprised with how fun it is to explore and how satisfying the mark hunts are.

But that makes me hate the game more because, from what I understand, this is almost the end of the game. And I had to struggle through twenty hours of unvearable hallways just to get this one little bit of freedom by the end. Heck, XIII would have been a decent game even with it's stupid plot if only the rest of the game was like Gran Pulse instead of that... thing we got.

I don't know if people who read VN's realize just how strange these things can be.

You're the last person Id expect to undergo such a phase, but who can tell? XD

    Of course

But it's still healthy to acknowledge your skills from time to time!

Thank you! I really didn't expect to do well.

And if I recall well, you sent me a poem to read, right? It really wasn't bad. Don't put yourself down, Wolf. You're a great writer

For my last blog entry I actually wrote a poem, even though I'm not a post in the least. I also put it in Timber Maniacs. Think you'd like to have a look?

I have other things to catch up with...

by Wolf Kanno on 04-09-2025 at 07:53 AM
I know I already have a lot on my plate, but I do want to finish a few other things besides writing projects and my various marathons.

I like to do gunpla and other mecha themed model kits, and I still have six more I need to finish. I have the old MG line of Gundam Wing Endless Waltz models from back in the early 2000s and I still need to put together the Tallgeese III to complete the set. I also recently picked up the EW version of Gundam Epyon from the same series because GW was

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit
