    Pretty much lol

Also I wanna take my new gear for a spin, so I was thinking about streaming Nier Automata in about 2-3 hours. Care to join in?

Yeah the little I played of it I really liked. It just got way too hard way too fast for me. So I’m counting on you

Lol yeah, it’s just an idea, so if you’re not comfortable taking that perspective, we can definitely focus on something more familiar to the both of us

We still have time to think about the topics, so while I’d focus on FF/games, I still need to figure out what angle we’ll be taking with this. Hopefully by the time you’re ready to go we’ve got this figured out.

There’s this show, Musicalsplaining, where Lindsay Ellis, who is a musical theater nerd, talks to her friend Kaveh, who hates musicals, about musicals. The episodes are always about particular musicals that they go to see together - for him it’s always the first time, for her it’s usually sonething she’s already seen. This kind of inspired the idea I had, which is we could talk like that about mecha shows. Like, a bit different since I’m not a hater, but comparing a newv’s perspective with a veteran’s has a ton of potential

Ooh, maybe if you beat it first, I’ll actually have the motivation to finally beat Front Mission myself?

For Nier Automata, I’m just really looking forward to it because it looks hella depressing I don’t know how well my PC can pull it off, and I’m really not big on those high-octane character action games, so I will be slightly out of my element. I’ve still really been waiting for a chance to try it so I’ll definitely play it eventually. For Cyberpunk, I wasn’t even planning on getting it. I can’t even put my finger on why but it just didn’t appeal to me at all in any of its promotional materials. Plus, as I just mentioned, my PC isn’t some powerhouse, so I don’t expect it to run smoothly. However, I met up with an old friend over Christmas and he works for CDPR. Said he had codes for the game on all platforms and had nothing to use them on since he doesn’t intend to play it, so I asked for one and now I’m just more interested in playing it now that I got it for free

Hope you get the mic soon enough! I think we could do some cool things. In the meantime I guess we could flesh out what we could talk about. We could just go with FF/video games and talk about all the things we were planning for the FF Talks, but then I also have another idea I think could be cool, which I’ll keep a secret for now But honestly, I’m just happy I got a microphone finally since it opens up some new opportunities for me. I definitely want to spend some more time recording music, so I’ll likely start out doing some song covers, later moving on to my own stuff. Heck, maybe this’ll motivate me to finally learn guitar properly or tune my piano. I’m also thinking that I might actually attempt to stream FFVII once I reach that point in the marathon.

Oh right, speaking of the marathon, I really need to update my thread. I’ve actually played a whole lot during my break but I didn’t have time to update at all. I’m actually at the point where Galuf just died and I’m going to Exdeath’s castle. Been experimenting a lot with jobs and now my setup is Dragoon, Chemist, Samurai and Summoner. I’m actually really happy Galuf ended up sticking to physical jobs because 1) he looked really badass as those jobs and 2) now Krile is taking over for him and having the tiny girl be my main physical attacker is adorable. My break is until the 7th, so I think it’s possible I’ll beat this game before then, though I really do hope I can focus on my creative projects as well.

So this Christmas I got the FFs I was missing on Steam, but I also got a free copy of Cyberpunk and I got Nier Automata for some of the money I got from my family. I’m also being sent an SDD so I can finally play Pillars of Eternity without the horrendous loading times. In general, I’m a bit tempted to put my marathon on hold, even though I’m looking forward to playing some FFs for the first time as part of the marathon

I did also get the microphone I wanted and the stand is on it’s way, so I should be able to record some stuff soon! Ready to start a podcast whenever you are

Yeah BotW is pretty involving. But also not to the degree that other open world games are, imo, as the story is really told very loosely and you can pretty much adjust your pace however you like

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit
