Ah yes, returning back to old classics I see ^^ I've just decided to continue my dive into the Ys series by going backwards, so now I'm playing Ys Seven. It's pretty great so far.

Yeah, you probably will, but I feel expectations play a big part. I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much the first time as I am now, because now I know that I’m not supposed to expect the characters to be nearly as complex as they were and should instead just enjoy this far more comedic take for what it is. As for Elizabeth, I used to prefer Margaret but honestly, in this game Liz really shines. But overall, the Velvet siblings get a lot of screentime and interactions with one another and it’s all very fun to watch. I’m curious how they handled adding Caroline and Justine to the bunch. I know Margaret, Liz and Theo were all canonically siblings and I do know Caroline and Justine aren’t exactly what they appear, so I’m curious if they’ll address or lack thereof in Q2

So when are you going back and clearing the Trial Mode ^^

It’s... well, honestly, I don’t think you’d be happy with it when in a MegaTen mood. It’s really its own thing. Probably best if you’re looking for something more lighthearted or a first person dungeon crawler. Or just want to watch Elizabeth troll everyone.

You know, I’ve been replaying Persona Q lately (because of course I have) and I forgot how much focus the Velvet Room siblings get in this game. With the P3 route being especially amusing in that regard because Elizabeth really gets a chance to shine. She’s an absolute troll in this game with Theodore being her butt monkey all of the time (and everyone else’s, for that matter) and I am living for this. It may be a silly little spin-off that really flanderizes some of the characters (oh my poor, sweet Akihiko), but damn if it isn’t fun with it’s gags sometimes.

Sure thing. I’ll still need a little more time, but I hope to close this off by the end of the month.

Would you rather I sent you the stories one by one, or do you want to see the anthology as a whole once it’s done?

Oh, I wasn’t even gonna ask for permission - you’ve already said you’d be my beta reader before. The contract is sealed

My Top 100"s Lost but Not Forgotten: Suikoden IV ~ Part 1

by Wolf Kanno on 04-29-2019 at 06:53 AM
List, blah blah. Didn't make it, blah blah.

I feel I have a theme going here. Like the BoF1 entry, anyone who took a quick glance of my list will know I'm a pretty big Suikoden fan, you'll also notice I snubbed one of the main entries and most of the spin-off/gaiden games. I'll say right now, that I have to actually play Suikogaiden due to lacking the proper emulator, which is why

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Breath of Fire

Blah blah blah, made a list, blah blah blah, this is for games that didn't make it.

Anyone who simply glances over my list will notice I have a strong affiliation with Capcom's classic and underrated RPG series Breath of Fire. They will also notice I left one entry out of the list, and while my BoFII entry hints as to some of the reasons, I figured I would lay it out here

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Dragon Quest VII

by Wolf Kanno on 10-26-2018 at 05:42 AM

I feel like the year 2001 was an odd year in gaming. One of the first time where you really felt like the end of an era and the beginning of a new one was coming. Sony was gearing up to release the successor to the smash hit PlayStation and if you looked around the gaming scene, it seemed like every company was jumping ship to get on board what the PS2 could do. Square had released their PS1 swan song FFIX even though they would still support the PS1 with

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Arc the Lad II

You know the drill by now...

One of my all time favorite publishers in the 90s for video games was Working Designs. It was a company that actually tried to get a lot of cool JRPGs released in the West long before the actual JRPG boom in the last years of the decade. I've already spoken about their most high profile title they ever worked on, Lunar: The Silver Star Story,

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Final Fantasy III

Blah blah blah Top 100 blah blah blah too many good games to list. Blah blah blah, games that weren't good enough for my list but still excellent nonetheless.

Of the Classic series within Final Fantasy, FFIII was the last one for me to play, partly cause I didn't emulate very often and partly because I had hoped SE would come to their senses and re-release this title.
