...And a botched attempt to enter the mercenaries hid out ends with one Hostage.

The Parties Sorcerer/Ninja tried marching up to the third floor alone to investigate, smurfs up, and botches' a will save against a bards sleep spell, and the Paladin is not involved in this encounter. XD

So long as I get someone separate from the Paladin, who's freakin' Smite evil will overcome all of it's defenses, shouldn't be need more then one to crush at least one of my players.

And with one death and my Paladins smite used up, they must then escape. No need to use two bears to make the suffering end sooner I say.

It's when they are full of hope I pull out the Sentient, Devil possessed Clockwork bear.

Well if I'm not being fair about it where is the fun in it for me? Being unfair and I'd have not challenge in killing my players the first encounter.

Well I'm not going to give them warning about the upcoming dungeon, but as I said I want to be fair. If I was just going to flat out kill them I'd just bring in a Kyton already.

Hey, I posted the LP poll up in the forum! Would you please vote?

It sounded like that particular group was pretty aware of the dangers of the level one kobolds by that point, at least with how fearful they sounded right off the back.

And I was referring to the Kobold area being handled fairly easily by an illusionist, not the DM using illusions. Of course this would require one of the players to have a focus on illusions. Conjuration could also come in handy, ore a clever Transmutation specialist.

Maybe not Transmutation, the spells to clear it may be higher level then what I'm remembering, never really did much with Transmutation when I played casters. Of course these all involve going in intentionally building the types of casters who can handle pretty much any situation with ease, so it depends if those are your kind of players or not.

Regardless, I'm probably leveling up my PC's once more before running my clock work dungeon on them, I realized when building it they probably aren't quite equipped to handle what I'm wanting them to do yet.

The difference here is rather then being crafty, my discovery has more to do with some bizarre oversight the writers didn't see, where as the Kobold thing is the DM being an both clever and an asshole.

I'm pretty sure some of the scenarios described in tuckers Kobolds could be handled by an illusion based spellcaster though, or at the very least a few of them.

...Oh god. Oh dear god I just found something horrifying and beautiful.

Clockwork Bat Swarm. Immune to normal weapon attacks, single target spells, mind effecting effects, 50% damage off of any area of effect spells or attacks, Immune to anything with a Fort save (Even Disintigrate, due to that not working on swarms) Damage Reduction 5/Adamanting (For the very few things that can hit it), and a 9 SR.

    Only a 3 CR creature.

I don't think they thought about a person applying the CLock Work Template to a swarm. XD

Well, currently there target is going to be a gnomish convict whose working with devils. Basically he's on the evil side of gnomish curiosity, not caring what the things he uncovers are used for.

SO next up my party is going into an anctient ruins that is producing clock work monstrosities. The Gnome himself isn't actually there, but a devil is left in charge of the facility in his place.

I'm sure I can conjure up some fun things to do to my party in this place.

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit
