Now that people are speculating once again about Final Fantasy VII Remake News with me looking at comments I once again have this fear that with those slight story-tweaks that Nojima-san was supposed to make people are going to misunderstand the story segments even more than they did in the original. It is incredible how the internet with people emphasizing on only one part with ignoring the other one combined with smurfing contradictory interpretations like the Brittenham one can go so much beyond what a normally very simple to be understood story is supposed to be.

I know you are the "biggest Nojima-fan of all time" but I really hope he does not mess this up with his tweaks because stuff that was blatantly obvious in the story was ignored already so I don't know what happens if it is even changed as peoples' understanding might be even worse then.

Btw. I am talking about stuff like:

    The Sephiroth & Jenova topic
The Cloud & Aerith dynamics which mainly are twisted by so-called "CloTis" and "ZEriths"
The Confabulation that Cloud suffers through where people act like "real Cloud" is an actual seperate entity and person which is not the case because Confabulation is not the same thing as Dissociative Identity Disorder while it was instead another layer instead of an actual consciousness and self. A "mask" as James in Silent Hill 2 also has when he convinced himsef that his wife died years ago and repressed the part of himself that new the truth to prevent his brain from getting damaged.
Compilation stuff like Hojo virtualizing himself (who knows if that is included but that one at least was not Nojima who wrote it but to be honest, even that was properly explained in DoC and people still did not get it).

There is a lot more but ... sigh ... I swear if I read more things about people treating Jenova as the mastermind of the story and the one killing Aerith - because they do not get that Jenova is not a character in the traditional sense as people are - just because of a single line on CD2 where the heroes said "btw. dude, we followed Jenova's body", completely glossing over every other thing that had Sephiroth say "I do not need this body anymore" as well as the revelation that Sephiroth did not just want to spread his consciousness but also control those who carried Jenova cells, etc. together with the entire misunderstanding of people what Jenova actually is, I am losing my mind.

As a side note - I also hope he does not retcon too much. If he wants to explain better, fine. So far I was quite confident about what he wrote but I really hope this whole announcement of "we keep the core" is true.

I wouldn’t expect much, honestly. I imagine the game feels more complete and that the end-game challenges will actually be pretty fun, but if you dislike the original, I doubt you’ll go around and change your mind with this.

But then again, who knows if your perception of the game won’t change after so many years of not playing? If my FF marathon has taught me anything, it’s that this can happen at unexpected times.

Btw, PS3 or PS4? I heard the PS3 version has some noticeable loading times during form changes for some reason

Epcar is cool, but Billy Zane is Ansem.

Lol, that I’d pretty hilarious, all things considered. And I always thought Billy Zane was just too expensive - was there some controversy involved?

You’re almost there! So how do you feel the 3D Reverse/Rebirth so far?

Awesome. I had a low two days when it comes to writing, so I'm trying to make up for that now.

Do it. Its better to have a bit more of a challenge and finish something faster rather than get tired of it. Like, I feel I could’ve stuck around in the Witcher 3 much longer, but I felt I’d reached a point that I was just satisfied enough to just leave it there, but still far from sick of it.

I’m definitely not a completionist at heart, is what I’m saying I huess

A lot of people, especially nowadays, just don’t really give ideas too much thought and just latch on to whatever confirms their preconceived notions the most. It’s lame, but it’s there. I know it’s hard, considering they’re a pretty vocal part of the fandom, but they’re still a minority and most people I feel still make their own minds on things. It’s really best to just ignore them.

Yeah, starting from Halloween Town, the worlds get really huge, up until the last floor. Honestly, Halloween Town was the last world where I actually did every room and cleared them of the Heartless - beyond this point I just gunned it.

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Dragon Quest VII

I feel like the year 2001 was an odd year in gaming. One of the first time where you really felt like the end of an era and the beginning of a new one was coming. Sony was gearing up to release the successor to the smash hit PlayStation and if you looked around the gaming scene, it seemed like every company was jumping ship to get on board what the PS2 could do. Square had released their PS1 swan song FFIX even though they would still support the PS1 with

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Arc the Lad II

You know the drill by now...

*******************************************************************************

One of my all time favorite publishers in the 90s for video games was Working Designs. It was a company that actually tried to get a lot of cool JRPGs released in the West long before the actual JRPG boom in the last years of the decade. I've already spoken about their most high profile title they ever worked on, Lunar: The Silver Star Story,

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Final Fantasy III

by Wolf Kanno on 03-07-2018 at 08:10 PM
Blah blah blah Top 100 blah blah blah too many good games to list. Blah blah blah, games that weren't good enough for my list but still excellent nonetheless.

*******************************************************************************

Of the Classic series within Final Fantasy, FFIII was the last one for me to play, partly cause I didn't emulate very often and partly because I had hoped SE would come to their senses and re-release this title.

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: I am Setsuna

by Wolf Kanno on 02-23-2018 at 06:38 AM
So I did my Top 100 last year, and this year, I'm focusing on a few entries that didn't make the cut for one reason or another. I'll start off by saying that most of the games mentioned in this blog series are all worth playing, they simply just haven't enraptured me enough to place them on my List. I started with Demon's Souls, and i have about 24 more entries to go. I know I said it would be like four or five, but giving myself some time to think about it made me realize how many great games I

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Demon's Souls

by Wolf Kanno on 01-22-2018 at 03:23 AM
So as many people know, last year I did my Top 100 Games list, but as usual, there were a lot of games I loved that just didn't make the mark for one reason or another. I didn't really want to make a thread about it though, and figured the Blog would suit it better because there is likely only five or six games I wish to highlight here. I also feel annoyed I never use the Blog feature as much since it feels like a better platform for these types of discussions. In addition to these blogs, I do plan
