I can see that and I’m happy with most of the changes. Raidou runs faster both in and out of battle, you can access the Gouma-Den from any save point now, and the healing spring is much cheaper (not that it makes a difference to me since importing my save file has awarded me some very expensive vendor trash and I got to start the game with around 40k yen.

Ok so it’s pretty cool so far, the battles are more dynamic but also more chaotic as a result, so I need to pay more attention. One thing that’s a bit iffy for me right now is that, while the original game struck a great balance between explaining things and leaving stuff for you to infer, Raidou 2 really doesn’t want you to lose track of what’s going on. The prologue looks pretty much the same as in the first game but this time you get a super detailed description of what being a Kuzunoha means, who Gouto is - despite the fact that I already knew all this from the first game, and that game didn’t feel the need to bombard me with essays on those things. And now in the story proper it looks like every little bit of an exchanges is later summarized to you by Gouto - so that you don’t miss the detail that Narumi just got a pile of butter on his pants.

But I hope it’s just an early game thing and the game will soon start treating me with the respect I deserve. Lucifer shows up pretty much right away, so that’s cool stuff. He looks very handsome in his ‘20s getup and is being very cryptic and mysterious

I heard it’s interesting because alignment isn’t a world-changing thing in this game, rather you just get to decide Raidou’s personal workdview

I’ve heard conflicting things about the story. Some say it isn’t as crazy as the first one, but then some people say it’s darker with a stronger presence of mainline elements. Also, alignments! Yay!

Here’s hoping Raidou 2 is at least as good in that regard. I hear people praising the battle system a lot.

Well we’ll see how it goes. Anything for my fledgling spawn.

Btw, beat Raidou 1 yesterday. The final dungeon was kinda dumb, mostly since it made you replay pretty much every boss battle in the game (including the insanely annoying Mishaguji), and the final boss was no slouch either, but I made it. Overall, great game, very unique even by SMT standards

Of course not. This is all probably a good thing since right now I should end up making more money, whether I stay at my current job or thanks the new one. But change is always stressful

Well looks like my focus is about to be broken as well because I got a call back from a job interview and I’m gonna need to seriously consider my options. Change is coming

It’s teally not a long game. I’m at about the 25-hour mark, and I don’t feel underleveled or anything, since I never escape from battles. I’ve also done some optional stuff but I think I’m gonna move on to 2 instead of sticking around for Beelzebub.

I mean, I guess when you have limited time to put into games and you want to finish some long-overdue entries, you’re gonna go fast

Almost done with Raidou 1. I’m at the final dungeon so I should be done today. Overall it’s been really good and I haven’t grown tired of the battle system st all. It’s good to hear that the sequel has even better gameplay, but I feel people really exaggerate how bad this one is.

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit
