Sorry got a bit swamped this weekend lol. Just watched that Witcher video btw. Very amusing. I find it especially funny how they summarized the Keira quest as being friebdzoned when your only option with her in the game if you want to pursue her is a friends with benefits kinda situation.

I’ll get back to you on the Bloodborne music stuff later. I’ll probably need a while to immerse myself in that

Already saw it ^^ fun stuff

Not yet, but I did find a pretty big list of free ones and I have an idea for a story. I think I’m gonna write and edit one first, then find a contest that fits

I’ve started thinking of entering some writing contests again

Well, granted, this is not the same writer, and these writers knew full well that this would be many people’s first foray into the series. So I guess with all the material in the books they had some easy pickings lol

Also, wife has asked me about the After Years as well, as she’s invested now. I recommended her what I think is the optimal way to go about it, in that I think she should not play it right away, since there’s so much retreading. The other problem though is that she prefers to play games in Spanish over English, and the PSP version doesn’t support that language. I’m actually considering getting it on Steam for that reason. It’s also a more streamlined version and it’s nice that it has the same visuals as IV DS. While I personally mourn the loss of the challenge dungeons, she’s not really into that sort of thing so it’d probably work better for her

Hey, now that I think about it, The Witcher 3 is the After Years to the books’ FFIV lol. The story is new on the surface but basically just remixes a lot of events and plot points from the books, but the characters - both old and new - really make the story enjoyable, and it’s just fun to play. Granted, this game also has DLC where one is amazing for being wholly original while the other just goes all in on the fanservice for both the books and the first game, but if we count just The Wild Hunt, the similarity is uncanny

Exactly. I’d say a sequel doesn’t need to be necessary in order to be enjoyable. The cast carries TAY and I think that while the new story is a bit of a nostalgic retread, I still think it’s interesting. The Interlude is an example of a completely unnecessary addition that, conversely, does not spark joy

I agree. It’s far from perfect and overstays its welcome a bit, but I actually really like it. I think the fandom is really exaggerating by calling it terrible.

I find the trials interesting in hindsight, since it’s obviously what inspired the After Years both in terms of story and the challenge dungeons. A lot of the ideas in that game had there roots here.

Nah, I’m done with the emulators. I also want to do the new dungeon they added since I never finished it. The whole point of this marathon for me is doing the game with all the extras available. The extra dungeons have been a total blast so far.

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

by Wolf Kanno on 01-30-2020 at 08:17 PM
You know the drill…

I mentioned this in my Chain of Memories entry for my Top 100 List, but Kingdom Hearts and I have a really awkward history with each other. This is a franchise that has always been more of a guilty pleasure for me than something I actively love. Funny enough, it’s not even the basic premise that bothers me. While Final Fantasy meets Disney mash-up sounds contrived, KH has always managed to make it work since this
