Sounds pretty solid. What happened that made the humans be on the brink of extinction?

Meanwhile, my writing has slowed down yet again because my brother had surprised me by giving me Pokťmon Ultra Sun But I’m also really close to done with Zelda so here’s hoping I can do it!

Interestingly, a variation of that mechanic is used in RS1, although it isn't obvious that's what is going on and it just makes the boss appear to have much more hp than it actually does; it works much better in the Apollo fight, what with the storyline buildup and gooification.

Sounds very ambitious. Might take a while, but if you stick with it, you might just pull it off and the payoff could be very satisfying.

I’m still not very far in. Still developing the empire chapter, but then my chapters are a bit on the longer side, with various sub chapters in-between. But yeah, hope to speed up soon.

Consistency is key. Though I imagine I’ll speed up considerably once I beat Zelda, which should happen this week. Ideally, I’d like to have my beta copy ready before the baby gets born.

At what stage are you with the ideas you mentioned? Still brainstorming?

Ooh, sounds good! Glad you found an opportunity to use your race! Looking forward to it.

My writing is going slowly, but it’s going along. I’m just happy that I’m writing at all tbh

I'll have to look at that guide the next time I play, if only to avoid the constant headache of my monster changing back into weaker forms. There's nothing like losing the progress your character made because they ate the wrong steak. . _. I kind of like how they did it in Frontier, as you can choose to keep techs you want there and what you keep largely determines what monster you get.

It is possible you pushed the counter past certain events, depending on how many fights you had and when you had them. Albert and Sif are the only characters that start with the counter at 0 and have super generous early games because of that, and good ol' Berty also resets the counter once during his intro, I believe when you fight the boss in the cave near your starting castle, so you should be fine -- the only quests you are likely to have missed are the first gold mine, literally all the way across the map from where your ship crashes, annnnnnd maybe the early Harem quest that I only ever manage to get as two people anyway. The ones you most often see mess up are the ones in the Empire and dealing with the Water Dragon, since they have a lot of mini events in them with narrowish windows.

Yeah, the super random nature of mutants in S1 can be really annoying, but I tend to get really lucky with them. You can also slap some spells or psi weapons on them if you can't get good abilities too, though I seem to recall a bit of a balancing act with armor or something when doing that. How'd you manage the monster thing? I remember hearing about a way to do that but never looked into it; I always just kind of spun the wheel and hoped for good things.

Halfway point in SaGa 1 means . . . you just finished the island place, yeah? It's been a while since I played that game, but I love a lot of its ideas, especially the different worlds connected to the tower; it gives the game such an odd vibe. Also might be more than a little fond of my mutants randomly becoming super characters due to random skill acquisition. :3

You know I noticed they just polished up the sprites in RS2 but I didn't actually think about it at all, and I am pretty sure you are completely correct, because the style chosen for mobile V/VI characters looks terrible and almost no one I know was happy about it. Regarding the game itself, I don't know much about it other than it's the most highly praised entry in the series and its Steam controls are complete garbage, but it's probably worth picking up on sale if you have been eyeing it.

I love RS1, but I feel obligated to throw out just how, uh . . . flawed the title is before you really dig into it. For all of the great concepts the game has there are a lot of execution hiccups that can lead to an extremely rocky experience, probably the most notable being the way world progression is handled. I don't know if you are familiar with it or not, and this isn't any kind of spoiler, but the game and its events progress on this invisible clock based on your total enemy encounters, and this leads to very odd moments where there are no quests, too many quests, certain quests you started can no longer be completed, ect. I played through that game about . . . fourish times in a row and I was still lost trying to figure out what to do / where everyone was a couple of times. So, if you ever find out something in a quest isn't working, be aware that you probably did it right and the timer just advanced past the expiration date. Also, keep the Aquamarine.

I’ve always felt really bad for SS being so disliked since I feel it has a whole lot going for it, even if the whole experience is really linear. But yeah, I’ve never been so invested in a Zelda game quite like Breath of the Wild, and I think it possibly has my favorite open world of all time. Plus, I just feel it pulls of some risky, innovative elements perfectly - the open, non-linear narrative makes for one of Zelda’s best stories, imo, and the soundtrack is just on another level.

I’ve also started Phantom Hourglass and it’s... okay so far? I guess? It doesn’t really feel too special so far, with dungeons that are way too simplistic for its own good. It’s good fun, but Idk. I dont really have as much reverence for Wind Waker as many people seem to have, so maybe I’m just not feeling it. Heard Spirit Tracks is a vast improvement , though, so I’m looking forward to that.

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

by Wolf Kanno on 01-30-2020 at 08:17 PM
You know the drillÖ

I mentioned this in my Chain of Memories entry for my Top 100 List, but Kingdom Hearts and I have a really awkward history with each other. This is a franchise that has always been more of a guilty pleasure for me than something I actively love. Funny enough, itís not even the basic premise that bothers me. While Final Fantasy meets Disney mash-up sounds contrived, KH has always managed to make it work since this

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra

by Wolf Kanno on 12-30-2019 at 09:56 PM
Top 100 List Blah blah blahÖ. I ended up re-writing this entry because the original was a little more bitter and more like just a genuine rant than a review. With that said, a little backstory is in order.
*************************************************************************

Continuing my trend of snubbed entries in franchises, we now come back to a series that was very near and dear to me. At this point in time, the story of
