Btw, do you like this kind of music?

Well I don't intend to deep dive into the series anytime soon - I do want to eventually but it's not a priority - though Nocturne and the Persona 2 duology are the ones that I'm most interested in. Outside of SMT, I also do want to finish NieR:Automata which I stalled after route A, and of course Ys Chronicles and Origin. I'd also like to play the Mana series though I sadly don't own a Switch for the collection, as well as some of the Suikoden games. Oh and I have an itch to replay just about all of my favorite games which I've only begun to scratch with FFX and .hack//G.U. now so that's a running project as well.

Decided to give Ys VI a whirl for a change of pace, damn those old games can be so punishing. Though I had a good chuckle when I entered a boss fight and due to me not being strong enough and damage dealt being pretty much literally (your attack stat - enemy defense stat) I did 0 damage with every attack, forcing me to reset. Fun times. Was easily rectified by getting a sword upgrade though.

Backlog hell indeed >.< well no rush, not sure how the PS2 version stacks up to the rerelease anyways, but it is a game I like a great deal. Papers Please sounds interesting but both physically and mentally stressful as all hell O_o what SMT games do you still have to go through btw?

Man, tell me about it. I feel that's a general problem in adult life, and I'm slowly learning to just accept that.

BUt maybe I'm in denial. I'm still really hoping this is a tough moment, but things will get a bit more relaxed. But in case it doesn't I just hope I can learn how to cope somehow.

I know that, for me personally (other than actually being able to live off of writing creatively, which is the end goal), I currently want to do everything in my power to go full freelance, For that I'd need more clients and to earn their trust but, slowly but surely, I am getting there an earning more money from extra jobs every month. So I hope this'll keep up and once I reach a certain level, I'll be able to slow down a little bit.

Maybe the translator thought it seemed unpersonal since you are C(h)rono and would not call her by her name. But that saved me some hours not to lament about how she probably was meant as Jina ... damnit, I still did.

Slowly. Had to prioritize writing for money right now, but I do intend to finish that short soon and then move right back into the novel proper. I have a two-week vacation coming up and though I’ll be spending most of it at my parents’, I hope I can get stuff done

Great to hear about your Halloween project! I still have no idea what to write, though I usually come up with an idea at the last second. Wonder what turnout we’ll have this year

God, I am so stupid! I read Jina's name in that guide but have the Japanese version in my shelf but did not remember that the game actually uses the name! Well, still no answer to "is it Jina with J for us foreigners intended?" (but I still think it is) but it shows that I definitely have not played the original often enough for my taste. NOW of course some "huh, seems familiar" rings.

It would be more obvious if they actually took the kanji for hour but we know by now that they love their little naming games (and by taking a real kanji the name would be way more complex than by just taking katakana but as said, for naming puns and all that the way they did it would be fine - and even if it was not meant we still have Gina as normal female name). So I don't think it is far off. It would be easier if they had her name written out somewhere but I think we won't ever see the name of such an NPC in with our letters in a guide or manual. I also think Jiiru's name is interesting. Funnily enough it also is a mother that starts with "Ji" (but well, she has no child that has a time-related name). Zeal or Zhyle or one of the other Western versions never made any real sense to me except if they wanted to made some sort of allusion to "Seal" or "Sea" which would made kinda sense with the whole Ancient era, the Palace, Machine and Lavos. But since I know Akira Toriyama has named his characters names like "Gine" for Goku's which is a syllable swap of Negi or Saiya-jin which is a syllable swap of Yasai(-jin) with Yasai meaning Vegetable and Tsufuru-jin for Furutsu(-jin) for Fruitsu to make the Vegetable and Fruits people I think it could be some attempt of Jiiru being an allusion to the "Luci" (not Japanese though) for light. It would be a bit odd because it makes use of a katakana that I would not necessarily use but as a pun and allusion it could still be okay. Freeza is also not written in Japanese like Freezer.

And I so love Marl's outfit. It is almost 100% a copy of Bulma's desert outfit in Dragon Ball vol. 2.

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

by Wolf Kanno on 01-30-2020 at 08:17 PM
You know the drillÖ

I mentioned this in my Chain of Memories entry for my Top 100 List, but Kingdom Hearts and I have a really awkward history with each other. This is a franchise that has always been more of a guilty pleasure for me than something I actively love. Funny enough, itís not even the basic premise that bothers me. While Final Fantasy meets Disney mash-up sounds contrived, KH has always managed to make it work since this

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra

by Wolf Kanno on 12-30-2019 at 09:56 PM
Top 100 List Blah blah blahÖ. I ended up re-writing this entry because the original was a little more bitter and more like just a genuine rant than a review. With that said, a little backstory is in order.

Continuing my trend of snubbed entries in franchises, we now come back to a series that was very near and dear to me. At this point in time, the story of
