This is true. Hopefully I can get my internet sorted out before then, 'cause I'm having trouble with most crap and it is really getting on my nerves. I do everything online and having faulty net is not conducive

I wanna make a topic about this but I have already made a couple Xenogears topics lately and I do talk about it too much...

Doesn't it seem like Cloud is "out of place" in the FF series? That he has very little in common with any other Final Fantasy protagonist? As we both know, Xenogears was once supposed to be FFVII and it seems they took some of the ideas and concepts from early Xenogears and put them in VII. As a result, Cloud is much more like Fei than Cecil or Squall or any of them.

It's also a parody on the music those people listen to

Nupe It's about a specific subculture which is pretty dominant here - "dresy" (literally translated as tracksuits because, you know, that's what they wear all the time). They're basically a bunch of low lives who only drink and don't care about education or anything. The main story is about the girl (a female dres) who was supposed to take the decorations off her Christmas tree, but first she went to buy bread. She went to her favorite store because they give you stickers and when you get enough of those you get a stuffed animal. On the way there she always sees this guy watching her and when she talks to him her tongue gets tied in knots and her legs shake - she's in love, you see but he tells her his mom (who used to be wasted all the time) bakes get own bread, but she can't bake anymore because she's dying, so he wants to sell her the bread machine. So she buys it, probably to impress him. Then she bakes a lot - she made bread walls, chairs. She baked so much, in fact, that she now cries breadcrumbs instead of tears. So I'm guessing it's how these guys are momma's boys and girls can't love up to their standards, but they try anyway because they're desperate for their attention? I don't know. And then there's all this simple-mindedness to it.

It's even more amusing when you know the subject it's satirizing. It's very Polish.

So some people around here have been asking me what Polish sounds like. I reply with this:

That's true. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't stay and do a PhD, but then I figure I'm not cut out for it and my grades probably wouldn't even let me do that. Still, I want to keep seeing the world unfold before my eyes.

Yeah, I get ya. There's so much I would love to keep studying, I really feel like university has opened up my world a whole lot. But I still don't have a job and I can't keep at it forever. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm still hopeful for the future and expect real adult life to be interesting in its own way. I just hope I can never stop learning.

That's still good to hear My semester is pretty similar, though it's still the first year of MA studies so I don't have anything too heavy to do for this exam session. We aren't even required to begin writing our papers yet, so that's a plus, I guess. Next year will probably be extremely hectic. And it's only now that I feel that I'm gonna miss university

Still, if it's due this week, you can still get back to us once you're done with it, right? Seriously, everybody's talking about how good it is that you're back

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit
