Yeah, Deep Dive is pretty cool. I remember the days when people would just speculate about this - it was a similar deal later with Birth By Sleep. Both of those times it just seemed we were seeing something that’s completely unlike anything that’s happened in the series so far. If there’s one thing I really Love about KH as a whole is how surprising it is and how much theory fuel there is. It really never gets old.

Eh, idk I feel you should just do what feels good. From what I’ve seen, there aren’t a lot of new cards and they’re not really anything to write home about, so I’d youre itching to play CoM and want to play Days instead of watching it, I’d just go straight for CoM.

I’ll take a look at it later, thanks!

And yeah, I think the worst part about this whole attitude is how many people just mindlessly regurgitate it. It’s one thing when you maje a well-substantiated video that I may not agree with but it’s still a valid opinion, but it’s another thing altogether when people go “well, soeedrunners say this, so it must be objective fact” - and this is really common, sadly

It’s really the Final Mix version that changed this. KHII now has an insane amount of extra content to seek your teeth into, so people now spend way more time with its mechanics, so the appreciation came. And it’s not that this is our forum’s deal - this literally happened after the West got FM. It’s gotten to the point that people don’t remember what it was like before FM - KHIII is lagrgely criticized for having just one optional boss, but people have completely forgotten that II used to have Sephiroth in the post game and that was it.

I’m honestly enjoying the second run so much more. I may think the plot is completely irrelevant, but I still like the fact that the Disney characters are given a lot of focus, and I think the Hollow Bastion segment really recaptured the magic of first visiting that place in KHI, despite doing so using a completely different gimmick. The gameplay is really fun and diverse though and I think it’s worth playing through for thay reason alone. Of course, that means this game being rereleased as a collection of cutscenes is even more of a shame than with Days.

Well, I know that most of this has come to be after KHII FM became available here, so people have been using that version as the gold standard. However, I am annoyed that II is being treated as objectively better for the above reasons - people have different plat styles and the command deck simply has a different niche to fill than the more vanilla ARPG combat in KHII.

Btw, got sick today trying to do the time Attack of Hollow Bastion part II for the trophy. Worst part is, I didn’t even manage to get he trophy, but I did manage to beat the world on critical, so whether I manage to get the time Attack trophy for the last world or not, if I beat it on critical (which should happen no problem), I’ll unlock the secret video and that’ll be it for me when it comes to coded. I’ll be taking a break of sorts from games after that.

Don’t even get me started on that one. The KHII circlejerk is so strong nowadays it’s not even funny anymore

Sorry for not replying so long. Busy weekend. Im also still working through your magnet message becausecof this

It’s good to hear the optional bosses have been such fun so far. Honestly, I’m just more sad I do t have a PS4 with that collection yet because of all this But wh, Maine somedat. Meanwhile I’m still missing six trophies in coded to unlock the secret ending, but I got the most challenging stuff oit of the way. And of course, I got the Ultima weapon and it basically doesn’t matter anymore since everything is cakewalk now anyway. As obnoxious as synthesis can be, at least in past game’s you could get the Ultima Weapon at a point where you could still uses - here you get it for clearing the toughest secret sector and beating the optional boss, and there’s literally nothing tougher than that left. 3D has the same problem where you got the UW for beating Julius

I agree, though my personal reasons for whining in this cases is just that I have this automatic repulsion to games that use the mobile/MMO format, in that they try to suck you in and addict to grinding so much. KH is still one of the better games in this format, but I still kinda need to force myself to play it. Bye, did you know Hiroyuki Ito is a co-Director on this game?

I’ll send you my feedback on the story in a magnet message, I kinda feel that’s be better

Yeah, he's one of the most entertaining music theory channels out there, if you ask me. I can't really tell for sure because of my background, but I feel he does a pretty good job explaining some complex concepts in very simple terms. I kind of feel like 8Bit Music theory, for example, as much as I love him, kind of fails to achieve that - but maybe he doesn't set out to do that after all since he's pretty much just doing musical analysis.

As for Union X, I'm taking another break because I just need to get mentally prepared for another 50 years in Agrabah (why is it always Agrabah? Why is it in so many games? Same with Wonderland, tbh). I'm only level 80, so that number feels kinda overkill if you ask me Let me just tell you this - the missions around here do have some interesting story bits, but it's not like stuff really starts going down yet. There's one very interesting aspect that I think is worhtwhile, but overall the status quo remains firm so far.

And yeah, agreed about the villains, but I also feel like the OG KH villains have really grown into their own. Even in I Ansem was cool - though he was pretty flat then, Billy Zane's performance as him really stole the show, if you ask me. Then we got the Organization which, true, never really lived up to the potential they presented in CoM, but games after II have really gone on to add some much needed depth to them and they're still one of my favorite aspects of the series. And then there's Master Xehanort who's a delicious ham that I always look forward to seeing more of. While it's a shame that we can no longer have the legendary Leonard Nimoy to voice him, they got Rutger Hauer as a replacement and I think that's a really fantastic choice. Heck, I even really like Young Xehanort, though it's mostly for his implications than his personality per se. I'm also kind biased because his voice actor is a gigantic dork who is really all into this madness (his Twitter handle is "Duly Norted") and that's really improved my enjoyment of the character. Xemnas is really the odd one out, since I kinda feel the writers never really knew what to do with him, though his Cold Ham performance is still very memorable.

Btw have you made it to mission 250 yet? I have. It was not what I expected and now I’m back in Agrabah again, which sucks, but at least the story but was interesting in a completely different way than expected.

My Top 100"s Lost but Not Forgotten: Suikoden IV ~ Part 1

by Wolf Kanno on 04-29-2019 at 06:53 AM
List, blah blah. Didn't make it, blah blah.

I feel I have a theme going here. Like the BoF1 entry, anyone who took a quick glance of my list will know I'm a pretty big Suikoden fan, you'll also notice I snubbed one of the main entries and most of the spin-off/gaiden games. I'll say right now, that I have to actually play Suikogaiden due to lacking the proper emulator, which is why

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Breath of Fire

Blah blah blah, made a list, blah blah blah, this is for games that didn't make it.

Anyone who simply glances over my list will notice I have a strong affiliation with Capcom's classic and underrated RPG series Breath of Fire. They will also notice I left one entry out of the list, and while my BoFII entry hints as to some of the reasons, I figured I would lay it out here

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Dragon Quest VII

by Wolf Kanno on 10-26-2018 at 05:42 AM

I feel like the year 2001 was an odd year in gaming. One of the first time where you really felt like the end of an era and the beginning of a new one was coming. Sony was gearing up to release the successor to the smash hit PlayStation and if you looked around the gaming scene, it seemed like every company was jumping ship to get on board what the PS2 could do. Square had released their PS1 swan song FFIX even though they would still support the PS1 with

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Arc the Lad II

You know the drill by now...

One of my all time favorite publishers in the 90s for video games was Working Designs. It was a company that actually tried to get a lot of cool JRPGs released in the West long before the actual JRPG boom in the last years of the decade. I've already spoken about their most high profile title they ever worked on, Lunar: The Silver Star Story,

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Final Fantasy III

Blah blah blah Top 100 blah blah blah too many good games to list. Blah blah blah, games that weren't good enough for my list but still excellent nonetheless.

Of the Classic series within Final Fantasy, FFIII was the last one for me to play, partly cause I didn't emulate very often and partly because I had hoped SE would come to their senses and re-release this title.
