I probably will. I enjoyed the movie, and the movies are usually always inferior.

I think it got some flak for the fixed camera angles too, the first game anyway. Even though that was part of the horror in not being able to see what was coming at you.

I think it technically only became an exclusive once. Even the original game when it first came out was multi-platform. It's just, a lot of people had PlayStations and didn't pay attention to the other consoles.

I noticed. I've been trying to pinpoint where it all started. Because in the case of RE, Capcom seemed pretty content with its success and didn't feel a need to try to reach out to a broader audience until more recently.

I love old school Resident Evil, so I shouldn't have much trouble with the design. My only concern was that it'd feel like RE in different skin (example: Dino Crisis), but from the little bit I play that doesn't seem like it's going to be the case.

That's fair. It isn't for everyone, and that's kind of my point. It wasn't for everyone and that was okay. It worked for them. It worked for a lot of different franchises and publishers. Then they tried to appeal to everyone to make more money and we ended up with Resident Evil 6.

Silent Hill is one of the games I got on my recent spending spree. I plan to review it during Halloween. I want to get my hands on the PS3 HD collection of 2 and 3, too.

I know. Some times it feel like he and I are the only ones. People always act so surprised when I say I don't like Resident Evil 4.

Ah. That I can understand. I tend to stay out of the the XIII board since I didn't like the game and there's not much discussion that can be built off of my criticisms of it. And I rather bitch about Resident Evil 4 and how the RE series has gone to trout since 2005, but no one wants to hear that.

It sums up FFXIII too. Shame all you got from the other side was a bad joke and a wink, but I've come to expect that.

I'm definitely no expert on JRPGs, even I'll admit the main things I like about X are story based. From what I remember, the gameplay was smooth enough to where I had no real complaints so I never analyzed that part of the game before. The story always stuck out to me because I enjoyed Spira, its lore, and could draw parallels to my own life through the religious themes. That's why Yuna is one of the few FF characters I can personally relate to.

I say we're on the same page with XIII. Again, you could probably go more in-depth than I could. I made it to Chapter Two and got bored. Never played the sequels and I have no desire to. I'm surprised someone hasn't requested I review them just to make me suffer (critics playing bad games is kind of a trend), but I'm guessing fans are concerned I'd rip it to shreds. They are right to fear me

I used to love VII, but I've come to realize and acknowledge its flaws a lot more in recent years. I just wish people (general people) would understand that you can still enjoy a game while acknowledging it has problems.

Doesn't surprise me. Ah well, if I ever replay X and have it fresh in my mind I'd be honored to debate X with you if you felt like it. A proper debate, I mean. Not me being knee jerky. You, Vivi, and Jiro always seemed like you would be fun to debate on video games. Problem is we usually agree more than we disagree, I think.

Games tha are distracting me from playing other games...

by Wolf Kanno on 12-10-2023 at 06:09 AM
Since I'm doing a marathon, I thought it would be fun to list the games that are distracting me from actually finishing said marathon.

FFXV ~ MGS: Peace Walker and SaGa Scarlet Graces
FFXIII ~ Breath of Fire 1-3 and MechCommander Gold
XIII-2 ~ Romancing Saga Re:Universe and FF: Opera Omnia

Will update more in the future...

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit
