Hanpan seems very useful already, helping me get that unreachable treasure. +1 respect to the wind mouse! I'll keep that in mind in regards to the title screen and I'll be sure to hit you up when (not if) I get stuck!

Ok so I just purchased the original Wild Arms and started as the "Treasure Hunter". I called him Zidane because a treasure Hunter is pretty much a thief, right?! The preset name "Jack" didn't feel very fitting at all!

There's tons of stuff like that in the Witcher. Definitely makes the scope of the game more manageable.

Are you using some in-game tool for sprites and portraits?

Meanwhile, I've just attended an in-game wedding. A whole chunk of the game where nothing bad happens. You just go and have fun at a wedding. It's glorious.

Tactics Ogre is really good and all the MATsuno talk really got me wanting to try the game again. Of course, not gonna happen anytime soon since I gotta pick up my PSP from my parents' place plus I'm planning to take a break from games for a bit after I complete the Witcher and really just throw myself into a writing frenzy. I've got some more ideas now, but the Witcher has me enraptured too much. I am thinking of writing a side story to the fanfic detailing Jack and Bailey's failed relationship. I see it as a side story since the demon involvement will be minimal and I want to approach the narrative a bit differently. Also, no point in writing and posting it now - I really want it to build up on an image of the characters that has already been established in the mind of the reader, so it'll be a while.

If you're curious, and just so I don't spoil too much, I can tell you I'm not going to use your idea for it or either of my previous two ideas. So far, their relationship has shaped into something different altogether in my head, so I hope I can make it compelling. One thing has t changed though - it's still completely and utterly doomed.

So far, the first of two Witcher expansions has really surprised me - and in a good way. I expected just a fun little side story, but there's genuine effort here. The story is not derivative of the books this time, but instead is a retelling of a Polish story that is on its own our local version of Faust (funny how I mentioned Faustian themes before I even got to this). Even though it focuses on original characters, I feel that it does a great job reinforcing Geralt's character. The conflict is very personal and very gray, but it has that typical sarcastic Witcher snicker about the whole thing. The main antagonist is especially well done, being both incredibly chilling (with kids singing creepy nursery rhymes about him, even throughout the base game, which I hadn't noticed - and then you meet him just after hearing it again and it clicks. Really unsettling) but also really fun to be around? I felt the base game's antagonist was a bit underdeveloped (though that's fine considering he game is really all about the characters rather than an external threat), so this is definitely a treat.

Btw, thought you might enjoy this. It's about the flaws in the idea of huge open world games. It touches on the Witcher a bit but is overall just about the genre and its pitfalls. Also one of my favorite youtubers.
