So the story is now really close to completion. I only need to do some editing now and it should be done.

Yeah I see. I guess that's where something like a Top Games list or analysis video or passionate blog post or whatever is actually pretty handy since those can nicely convince you to pick up a game you've had on your (metaphorical) shelf for a long time. I at least typically need that kind of immediate motivation if I'm to actually dive into a new game >.<

Hmm, well I get what you mean, though I'd consider just consuming games out of a sense of obligation to be similarly problematic. I do agree that it starts at binge sale buying, but it goes beyond that. It's how I used to go over visual novels back when I was big into them, basically just "wanting to have played/consumed them", and in hindsight I feel like I can hardly claim to have even played them at all.

Dunno, I just feel like there's something to be said for qualitative enjoyment, over quantitative. If you can get an incredible amount out of one game that's seriously valuable IMO, and probably moreso than having just consumed two or three additional games or something. Not that I'm against playing new games either of course, but you know. There's a lot of value in just thinking and feeling about one or a few games so much that you can endlessly talk about them, discuss their ideas, their qualities and shortcomings, etc.

Oh I'm absolutely hype as smurf for Ys IX. Not sure when that's getting localized though. Speaking of which I just cleared Ys I. Two more games then I've got the main series down ^^

Yup, I’m working on it. Should be done today.

I’ve recently acquired the last three volumes of the manga so I currently have it all. I enjoy this different take. Honestly, if someone is looking for just the most cohesive version of the story and doesn’t really care about the psychological commentary, this is pretty much the best version to read. It does lose some of the show’s madness, sadly, but it’s still a very solid story with gorgeous artwork - you can clearly see why Sadamoto started taking so long because that level of detail is something else. I do feel that Kaworu was done foul though because he’s just not presentbin the retelling of End at all. He does show up sooner and gets more development with Shinji, but he’s not there for the closing act, and that’s a bit sad.

I see ^^ well I hope you can enjoy it at your leisure when the time is right then :P (god that sounds cheesy, but it is true >.<)

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Suikoden IV Part 2 ~ Suikoden Tactics

by Wolf Kanno on 06-17-2019 at 06:25 AM

So in my last blog, I talked about the black sheep numbered entry of the Suikoden franchise, Suikoden IV. Today, we're going to look at Rhapsodia, better known as Suikoden Tactics in the West. Tactics is a gaiden title that serves as both prequel/sequel side story to Suikoden IV. What makes it really standout is that the game is no longer a turn-based RPG about collecting 108 heroes, but instead a Tactical Turn Based RPG a la Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire

My Top 100"s Lost but Not Forgotten: Suikoden IV ~ Part 1

List, blah blah. Didn't make it, blah blah.

I feel I have a theme going here. Like the BoF1 entry, anyone who took a quick glance of my list will know I'm a pretty big Suikoden fan, you'll also notice I snubbed one of the main entries and most of the spin-off/gaiden games. I'll say right now, that I have to actually play Suikogaiden due to lacking the proper emulator, which is why

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Breath of Fire

Blah blah blah, made a list, blah blah blah, this is for games that didn't make it.

Anyone who simply glances over my list will notice I have a strong affiliation with Capcom's classic and underrated RPG series Breath of Fire. They will also notice I left one entry out of the list, and while my BoFII entry hints as to some of the reasons, I figured I would lay it out here

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Dragon Quest VII

by Wolf Kanno on 10-26-2018 at 05:42 AM

I feel like the year 2001 was an odd year in gaming. One of the first time where you really felt like the end of an era and the beginning of a new one was coming. Sony was gearing up to release the successor to the smash hit PlayStation and if you looked around the gaming scene, it seemed like every company was jumping ship to get on board what the PS2 could do. Square had released their PS1 swan song FFIX even though they would still support the PS1 with

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Arc the Lad II

You know the drill by now...

One of my all time favorite publishers in the 90s for video games was Working Designs. It was a company that actually tried to get a lot of cool JRPGs released in the West long before the actual JRPG boom in the last years of the decade. I've already spoken about their most high profile title they ever worked on, Lunar: The Silver Star Story,
