That’s true. If you really feel like it’s time then you should really go for it. It’s why I went back to Pokémon so it’s be hypocritical of me to say otherwise

I get what you mean. Talking about a game I like often makes me want to go and replay the game I like instead of playing something new. Which can get annoying if you want to play new games. The question is ask myself if I were you would be how many times you’ve played Xenogears. If the answer is “too many”, that’s when I would go out of my way to hype myself up for - in your case - Dark Soups 3

I can help you get back in the megaton mood anytime you want

Btw, I love how with Pokémon Black and White you can tell just by the main theme that this game is different. It’s the same melody, but the arrangement gives it a very different feel

I get what you mean. SRPG burnout is definitely a thing, not to mention I also have a bunch of games I started and can’t get around to finishing, like Eternal Punishment, Devil Survivor 2, Regalia, FFTA, Bayonetta, and that’s not even going into games I have but haven’t played yet like Bayonetta 2, Zelda BotW, Suikoden and Front Mission. But at this point I decided I have way too much stress in life to let gaming become a chore so I just play what I feel like, regardless of any gaming “commitments” I may have. I’m hoping this more touch geeky approach can help me focus on what’s really important!

But Soul Hackers is a good choice just throwing that out there <.<

I think the only real must-tries in my opinion are the Gold and Silver remakes, as they’re kind of the grand culmination to the “old Pokémon” formula (far more than Diamond imo) and the fifth generation games with their sequels, as you can tell they were really trying to put Pokémon on it’s head with these - and in many respects succeeded! Too bad fan backlash caused them to go the opposite direction with X and Y to the point of pandering, but I digress. Still have yet to play the latest games and I’m really looking forward to them and I hear those really do things differently as well so that’s cool

You can get one in X and Y

No it’s actually a good thing. I’ve been playing in small chunks and don’t feel as obligated to sit down and play as I do with big console and PC games. It’s good. And yeah, ruby is cool. The remakes were the best part of generation six, but it still baffles me how they didn’t add the Emerald content (of which there is a ton) when Heart Gold and Soul Silver not only had all the crystal content, but pretty much all the stuff from gen IV and even some new stuff. Times have changed.

Speaking of, did you know the original gold silver and crystal got a rerelease on Virtual Console on 3DS? Since your copy of Silver had a dead battery, this might be your best way to experience the OG Silver

So now that I’ve decided to slow down with games a bit again, I kind of caught the Pokémon bug again. I’m finishing up the Pokémon Black post game and then I want to really sink my teeth into Heart Gold and Black 2 because I feel I didn’t spend as much time on those two games as they deserve, as they’re easily the two most content-rich games in the series. I’m especially looking forward to the Battle Frontier in HG and Pokémon World Tournameny in B2 as they’re two special modes that have you approach the games very differently. Plus, the latter has you fight all the gym leaders and champions that existed up to that point.

One annoying thing about Black is that there’s this 20-level gap between the end of the main campaign and the rest of the post-game, so now I’m basically grinding :/ To be fair, a lot of the generation 5 Pokémon evolve super late- like in their fifties and sixties late - so at least I have some cool evolutions to look forward to.

So I fought Zodiark for an hour and died and now I’m pretty burnt out. I’ think I’ll jist finish the game now and do the side content some other time

Xenogears sounds good. I’ve been debating on a CC playthrough myself, but never felt that strong a pull. Not to mention I want to slow down with games a bit after I finish TZA so I can focus on creative stuff.

Sounds pretty cumbersome, but it’s good that you finally got that hunt out of the way. That feeling when you’re done with the side content and can proceed with the main plot is pretty great

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Final Fantasy III

by Wolf Kanno on 03-07-2018 at 08:10 PM
Blah blah blah Top 100 blah blah blah too many good games to list. Blah blah blah, games that weren't good enough for my list but still excellent nonetheless.

Of the Classic series within Final Fantasy, FFIII was the last one for me to play, partly cause I didn't emulate very often and partly because I had hoped SE would come to their senses and re-release this title.

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: I am Setsuna

by Wolf Kanno on 02-23-2018 at 06:38 AM
So I did my Top 100 last year, and this year, I'm focusing on a few entries that didn't make the cut for one reason or another. I'll start off by saying that most of the games mentioned in this blog series are all worth playing, they simply just haven't enraptured me enough to place them on my List. I started with Demon's Souls, and i have about 24 more entries to go. I know I said it would be like four or five, but giving myself some time to think about it made me realize how many great games I

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Demon's Souls

by Wolf Kanno on 01-22-2018 at 03:23 AM
So as many people know, last year I did my Top 100 Games list, but as usual, there were a lot of games I loved that just didn't make the mark for one reason or another. I didn't really want to make a thread about it though, and figured the Blog would suit it better because there is likely only five or six games I wish to highlight here. I also feel annoyed I never use the Blog feature as much since it feels like a better platform for these types of discussions. In addition to these blogs, I do plan

Mononoke Hime

by Wolf Kanno on 11-08-2017 at 01:25 AM

A few days ago, I went to a midnight showing of Princess Mononoke at the Esquire Theater downtown. The very same theater I went to watch it the first time back in 1999 during it's initial release in the States. At that time, I was an avid anime fan who would consume whatever I could find as the medium was only in the beginning phases of it's explosive popularity in the 2000s, so the prospect of being able to watch an anime flick in an actual movie

Fighting Evil by Moonlight...

by Wolf Kanno on 06-14-2016 at 08:21 AM
So tonight I finally broke out a Christmas present I received several years ago that I never watched. Partly because for the first time in a long time, I felt ready for it. I acquired a DVD set that featured the entire DiC dub of the first two seasons of Sailor Moon, so basically the original dub, not the new one. Original Western score, Sailor Says, and the whole "Serena and Darien" name changes.

It was glorious.
