Hope you don't get disappointed with me

I'll try to get them once I have a bit more money then. And maybe by the time I reach Bloodborne it'll be ported to PC or I'll have a PS4.

I'm really happy things are finally looking up! Also happy about the Bloodborne thing - you're making me want to pick up the Souls series after I'm done with the Witcher. Judging by how well my monster machine of a PC is handling the Witcher games, I'm fairly confident I can run those well as well Is there a PC version of Bloodborbe? I know there is if the other games.

Can't wait for the articles as well! What have you been reading? I've recently started Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami.

(Side-note: the Witcher 2 has one of the best directed opening FMVs I've ever seen)

So ive finished the first Witcher this weekend and enjoyed it a lot. It did a pretty rarely seen thing where the penultimate chapter was kind of a breather just before the climax which I really think helped the pacing, ironically, as I didn't feel at all tired with the actiony climax, which I'm sure I would have been had it been just non-stop action. So now I'm playing 2 and it's very different but also very good so far, with even more nods to the books (to the point that I really don't get how these games were so well received when the story relies pretty heavily on the novels but what the hell).

Still, wrote less than I hoped to because of that. But I should have more opportunities this week since we're taking a long train ride for a wedding! And how are you? Had a nice weekend?

Still, pretty lame. Even Mario has a story from the getgo, however simple it is.

Well that's kind of dumb. I mean, I guess it is for someone like me who primarily plays for story.

Maybe it's just hard to pull off? Here it was easy because that's pretty much lifted straight from the source material

Still, it's good to know that there are western RPGs that don't give in to the "Saint or Literally Satan" alignment scale, and instead present both extremes of the law/chaos scale as pretty terrible (though justified in their approach) with some genuinely moral people on both sides, and the middle path still having big flaws. I wish more games did that. For now it seems it's only this, SMT and Tactics Ogre

In here it's more like, "okay, let them have their fight, I'm outta here"

So I've reached the final chapter in the Witcher and just had an alignment lock VERY reminiscent of SMT. Basically, there were two factions that are pretty much Law and Chaos, just more racially motivated, and I chose the neutral path and, as Geralt himself noted, "disappointed everyone". Just like in SMT, I like that there is no one good path that will just make you feel good for doing good - there's always some bad consequences you have to deal with.

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Arc the Lad II

You know the drill by now...

*******************************************************************************

One of my all time favorite publishers in the 90s for video games was Working Designs. It was a company that actually tried to get a lot of cool JRPGs released in the West long before the actual JRPG boom in the last years of the decade. I've already spoken about their most high profile title they ever worked on, Lunar: The Silver Star Story,

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Final Fantasy III

by Wolf Kanno on 03-07-2018 at 08:10 PM
Blah blah blah Top 100 blah blah blah too many good games to list. Blah blah blah, games that weren't good enough for my list but still excellent nonetheless.

*******************************************************************************

Of the Classic series within Final Fantasy, FFIII was the last one for me to play, partly cause I didn't emulate very often and partly because I had hoped SE would come to their senses and re-release this title.

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: I am Setsuna

by Wolf Kanno on 02-23-2018 at 06:38 AM
So I did my Top 100 last year, and this year, I'm focusing on a few entries that didn't make the cut for one reason or another. I'll start off by saying that most of the games mentioned in this blog series are all worth playing, they simply just haven't enraptured me enough to place them on my List. I started with Demon's Souls, and i have about 24 more entries to go. I know I said it would be like four or five, but giving myself some time to think about it made me realize how many great games I

My Top 100's Lost but not Forgotten: Demon's Souls

by Wolf Kanno on 01-22-2018 at 03:23 AM
So as many people know, last year I did my Top 100 Games list, but as usual, there were a lot of games I loved that just didn't make the mark for one reason or another. I didn't really want to make a thread about it though, and figured the Blog would suit it better because there is likely only five or six games I wish to highlight here. I also feel annoyed I never use the Blog feature as much since it feels like a better platform for these types of discussions. In addition to these blogs, I do plan

Mononoke Hime

by Wolf Kanno on 11-08-2017 at 01:25 AM

A few days ago, I went to a midnight showing of Princess Mononoke at the Esquire Theater downtown. The very same theater I went to watch it the first time back in 1999 during it's initial release in the States. At that time, I was an avid anime fan who would consume whatever I could find as the medium was only in the beginning phases of it's explosive popularity in the 2000s, so the prospect of being able to watch an anime flick in an actual movie
