    Halfway point in SaGa 1 means . . . you just finished the island place, yeah? It's been a while since I played that game, but I love a lot of its ideas, especially the different worlds connected to the tower; it gives the game such an odd vibe. Also might be more than a little fond of my mutants randomly becoming super characters due to random skill acquisition. :3

    You know I noticed they just polished up the sprites in RS2 but I didn't actually think about it at all, and I am pretty sure you are completely correct, because the style chosen for mobile V/VI characters looks terrible and almost no one I know was happy about it. Regarding the game itself, I don't know much about it other than it's the most highly praised entry in the series and its Steam controls are complete garbage, but it's probably worth picking up on sale if you have been eyeing it.

    I love RS1, but I feel obligated to throw out just how, uh . . . flawed the title is before you really dig into it. For all of the great concepts the game has there are a lot of execution hiccups that can lead to an extremely rocky experience, probably the most notable being the way world progression is handled. I don't know if you are familiar with it or not, and this isn't any kind of spoiler, but the game and its events progress on this invisible clock based on your total enemy encounters, and this leads to very odd moments where there are no quests, too many quests, certain quests you started can no longer be completed, ect. I played through that game about . . . fourish times in a row and I was still lost trying to figure out what to do / where everyone was a couple of times. So, if you ever find out something in a quest isn't working, be aware that you probably did it right and the timer just advanced past the expiration date. Also, keep the Aquamarine.

    I’ve always felt really bad for SS being so disliked since I feel it has a whole lot going for it, even if the whole experience is really linear. But yeah, I’ve never been so invested in a Zelda game quite like Breath of the Wild, and I think it possibly has my favorite open world of all time. Plus, I just feel it pulls of some risky, innovative elements perfectly - the open, non-linear narrative makes for one of Zelda’s best stories, imo, and the soundtrack is just on another level.

    I’ve also started Phantom Hourglass and it’s... okay so far? I guess? It doesn’t really feel too special so far, with dungeons that are way too simplistic for its own good. It’s good fun, but Idk. I dont really have as much reverence for Wind Waker as many people seem to have, so maybe I’m just not feeling it. Heard Spirit Tracks is a vast improvement , though, so I’m looking forward to that.

    So despite not really having much in the way of what I like the most about Zelda (dungeons), after being (what I assume to be) just over halfway through the game, I think I can safely say Breath of the Wild is my favorite in the series. Which is a bit weird, considering all the hype surrounding it before I played it didn’t really excite me and I expected to get a bit bored eventually, tbh.

    Honestly, I'm sure the game is perfectly fine as long as you go into it knowing what it is and don't mind the luck involved in the system. At the very least the game looks and sounds good, so you can use it as a musical screen saver.

    Annnnnnnnnnnnd holy crap, I didn't even notice Ito wasn't the composer for Frontier 2! I mean, most of his notable tracks in the series are battle themes as well, so maybe it doesn't matter all that much, but I have to check out the Frontier 2 OST now. Wonder why they swapped him? O_ oa

    It's probably more fair to say there is one I do not like, being Unlimited SaGa, and the other, Frontier 2, I'm more . . . dismissive of, I suppose? Unlimited is a lot like Dragon Quarter for me, where I went into it expecting an experience reminiscent of any of the previous installments and that is simply not what I got. The game takes the series in a completely random direction and many of the choices, and even the results of said choices, sometimes feel completely out of your hands. I didn't spend a whole lot of time with the game, but I remember having map actions fail on me because of a chance wheel, combat actions I'd botch again due to said wheel, and no real sense of location or progress in the game, just kind of advancing along from map to map and . . . well, hating every second of it. I might be able to enjoy it more today, but as a fan of the series at that point in time I was certainly not open to the title.

    Which, it also happens, was kind of my problem with Frontier 2 as well, though to a much lesser degree as I do recall the game itself being decent and playing through at least until probably unnecessary spoiler tagCordelia's death. Frontier lives up to its name in that it is a very out there feeling title compared to most other RPGs, with an almost non-existent narrative, different races, odd graphics, and wildly different locations to hop around to and explore, and I loved all of those elements, while Frontier 2 feels much more . . . safe in its choices, probably moreso than any title in the series up to that point, and I've just kind of wandered elsewhere in the series over it because of that. Reading your playthrough of it has drawn my interest back to the game though, so I'll probably give it another shot sometime soon, provided work doesn't continue to murder my ability to focus on anything else like it has been.

    To be honest, it’s not that I was more excited about him than anyone else, since I’m excited about a lot in the book. It’s just that I’ve spent some time with that first perspective and it’s really cool to finally see a different face of the world take shape.

    I am perfectly okay with the fact that Hamauzu is not everyone’s cup of tea. I greatly appreciate him from an analytical perspective and can see he’s trying to implement more artistic, forward thinking elements to his music, which I feel is a big step in making video game music more varied and artistic in general, but I do realize this comes at the cost of some accessibility. It’s the same issue with the Breath of the Wild soundtrack - it’s phenomenal on an artistic level, but if you’re coming in expecting the energy and catchy melodies of previous Zelda’s, you’re gonna be disappointed (and many people are)

    I’m also excited because I started writing the part of my story with the young emperor protagonist. I’m a bit worried I may end up having to drop the other POVs from this book and split it into separate things, though I’d love it if it were possible to keep this way since I feel it helps me paint a more comprehensive picture of the world. But he’s been delightly proud and bitchy so far.
