Okay, that prologue looks very interesting and I want to read more. Now, when it comes to my feedback, should I go very detailed? What aspects do you want me to focus on?

I just sent you mine. I had to split it, since it was pretty big. Still, hope you don't find it too tedious

Thanks a lot! I'm sure you can handle your novel as well Can't wait to read the chapters.

Hmm... That is a good point. We'll see how it works out.

I might use placeholders in notes, or something. The worst thing is, the setting is a fictional place in our world, 20 minutes into the future, so they really should have last names, I just can't really make myself make them up. We'll see how it works if I don't use last names.

That's kind of another big issue I have. In the long-term novel, none of my characters have last name. I'm afraid that might be weird, but on the other hand, at this point any last names would feel awkward and forced and I'm really not sure what I should do about it.

I did that in one chapter, too. Except it was a major character

It's funny how you're a native speaker of English and you're sending me, a not-quite-native speaker of English, your chapter and are worried about your grammar

Oh, please do After what you told me, I already really want to read your stuff! I'll try to send over my chapter later then

Also, really enjoying your bottom 10 list. I like how so many people lost it after Valkyria Chronicles They're all like "how do you hate it" when you clearly avoided using the word "worst". It all makes me wanna start a top 25 of my own someday, but I always have a hard time rating the games I like, or anything, really

Well, i guess the time we both spent on TVtropes is quite enough to start breaking those rules

I recently saw a compelling quote on tumblr (I forget what writer, though) that made a solid argument against trying to "show not tell" at all costs. Like, by definition, a character should never "feel joy", but "jump and smile, and flail their hands". In general, I really find the idea of "show don't tell" great, but some people have criticized me for some stupid things, like there's something fundamentally wrong with a character looking irritated. The point I'm getting at is, there are always many different mindsets about everything, and none of them are completely wrong or completely wright, so I think trying to force yourself to stick to a particular formula so as to avoid cliche at all cost, I think may actually serve to damage your writing. In the end, I want my writing to sound as natural as possible, and when it's a toss up between a cliched organic scene and an artificial scene that's "proper", I'll always go for a cliche.

Anyways, if you're ever interested, I have a particular chapter of Eden I would like your feedback on, considering we have some similar influences in our writing. It's kind of an important one. Act one is written in a way that the chapters can be read in any order, but this one comes last and it actually has the most of the actual plot. It's still a draft and parts of it are rushed, so I know I need to work on it. I just want to know if it's interesting. Still, I know that you're a really busy person, so I won't get offended if you say no If you are interested, however, let me know and I'll mognet you or something, since the chapter isn't on the forum yet.

Projects!!!

by Wolf Kanno on 01-28-2021 at 07:40 AM
Oof, I've been a bit out of sorts with my mental health lately, and I think it's about time I do something about that. I've got a lot of balls in the air so to speak concerning projects I've been doing around the forum both past and present. So I'm thinking about tackling a few of them, but with how I've been feeling lately, I want some second opinions I guess. Of the projects I've abandoned, what should I work on next?

Here's where I'm at for the moment:

WK's Top 100 Lost but Not Forgotten : Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

by Wolf Kanno on 05-24-2020 at 11:43 PM

I'm always split on these articles. So many of these games are great and I have retroactively said a few of them made the list, but occasionally something comes along that I really want to love but the game just won't let me. Tactics Ogre is in a weird place for me because the remake and the original are pretty different in some meaningful ways, so much of this review pertains to the remake due to having only played a little bit of the original.

WK's Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten List: Silent Hill 3

by Wolf Kanno on 05-03-2020 at 01:37 AM
Is this honestly the first non-RPG on this list?

Well I fell into the Silent Hill series rather late. By the time I had played the series, the "glory years" were over and fans were knee deep in Konami trying to take the series in a different direction without Team Silent. I was a huge fan of the first two entries of the series, being instantly sucked into the second entry and surprised how much I really enjoyed the first one. So it came as a bit

WK's Top 100 Lost But Not Forgotten: SaGa Frontier 2

by Wolf Kanno on 04-05-2020 at 02:32 AM
I was having a serious reservation about whether I was going to add this to my Top 100 list or place it here. I decided it would go here for now, but part of me feels it could be like Demon's Souls and make the jump to My Top 100.

SaGa is a weird franchise. A JRPG series made for enthusiast who feel they've seen it all. From the Gameboy entries where you built a ragtag group filled with robots and monster to climb a tower/tree to visit

My Top 100's Lost but Not Forgotten: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

by Wolf Kanno on 01-30-2020 at 08:17 PM
You know the drill…

I mentioned this in my Chain of Memories entry for my Top 100 List, but Kingdom Hearts and I have a really awkward history with each other. This is a franchise that has always been more of a guilty pleasure for me than something I actively love. Funny enough, it’s not even the basic premise that bothers me. While Final Fantasy meets Disney mash-up sounds contrived, KH has always managed to make it work since this
