Icons? You mean smiley? Just click "go advanced" and you can find them on the right hand side of the screen.

Actually I dun really have a clear definition on that cause everyone and everything deserve to be HATE!

Dun you think having HATE makes one and those around you happy?

HATE stands for Happiness Always To Everyone!

Accountability and self-awareness is a very big part of the social work course. We get taught to use supervision sessions, peer support groups, reflective journals and self-care to prevent the onset of conditioning. All those things work really well for me because my ego's huge () but other social workers can have a hard time with it because they hate talking about themselves. They become social workers because they're driven by a desire to help people living with disadvantage, so talking about their personal feelings can feel irrelevant for them. But it's actually very important to be self-aware of everything we do in this job. Otherwise we run the risk of doing our job "just because it's our job" whereas we should be justifying all our actions in the context of social work ethical principles, even if it means going against organisation's expectations.

Yeah, the removal of children from their parents is sad, but sometimes necessary. What sucks is the fact that so often children are removed when it's not necessary or only after an event occurs that could've easily been prevented with proper screening or education. And also, what scares me is that so many social workers in child protection become so used to their role that they begin thinking removal is the only option as opposed to a last resort.

A social worker. The degree is a Bachelor of Social Work. I'm not so sure with what target group I prefer to work with - I'm between youth casework or perhaps child protection (like the social workers on TV who kids away from families). Child protection more because it pays well and is more or less a guaranteed job out of uni since it's got quite a high turnover rate.. it's not very happy work, I suppose.

I'm pretty bad at reading Chinese. I can pick out 'you'...and 'chinese' and... 'computer'.. I'm sorry to say I don't know what that says. xD

I'm finishing up my final year at the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia. For the remainder of my course, though, I'm on field placement, so I'm doing some social research for a local community centre - not terribly exciting work, but it sure beats being stuck in a lecture theatre. Heh xD

The reading side of it is pretty stressful. I only did about four semesters with psych units in them and it was pretty intense stuff. Quite a few students (psych and social work alike) dropped off during that time. I think you'd do well though, since you have such a strong attachment to the subject matter.

    Whereabouts do you study?

That was some good debatin' =]

So I suppose you're a psychologist, right? (or studying to become one)

Creativity is certainly about not being constrained by rules or accepting the restrictions that society places on us. Of course the more people break the rules, the more likely they are to be perceived as ‘mentally ill’

Thanks for the spectrum of memories!

I have been on this site for a long time now, not as long as some of you, but long enough.

I had a great time, EoFF being an outlet for me during some of my times spent under duress. People have changed, I have changed, it's all good.

See you later EoFF.

I'm finally back on Twitter!

by jenovajunkie on 12-13-2020 at 09:20 PM
I am back with @JenovaJunkie86! I was formally @nowyouthink, however Twitter had suspended that account.

Apparently someone already had JenovaJunkie. The audacity of people I tell you, to just come here and steal my name.

A Break From The COVID-19 News

by jenovajunkie on 03-27-2020 at 01:14 AM
I mean, I think we deserve it. The virus is clouding the news, Facebook newsfeeds, and just media in general. The corona virus popped up in my Reddit timeline as well. Mastodon, not so much, Instagrams had a few mentions here and there. I am actually just self isolating myself, despite not even having travelled at all this year.
I’ve taken it upon myself to learn a computer language, I picked up the book Learn Python the Hard Way (3rd edition). I can’t say that I hate it either, learning how

Wuhan Disease.

by jenovajunkie on 03-22-2020 at 05:08 AM
Because saying Corona Virus is not appropriate language, apparently this YouTube "Voltaire" said that the streaming service has prohibited the word.

Also "racist" is another, and he ended saying "reecist". It was weird, although I don't know much about Youtube content publishing. Wuhan disease is a can also be seen as discriminatory I imagine, yet it originated from there.

I was scrolling down my timeline, and there was this dailymail.uk article
