If you know what you're doing, he's pretty easy to beat in NG+ his hardest battle is either tackling him with Crono solo or when you face him at the Ocean Palace where he kills Crono.

As for Frotz, it's not so much a special scene, just some foreshadowing. You talk to his father in the shop, and you can meet his wife at the pier. It's just some little details I've always liked about the game.

The question is, did you meet the wife and father before you rescued him?

Stealthing is incredibly difficult, but pretty impressive if you can pull it off. Did you rescue the merchant's son while you were there?

So how did you tackle the escape from the prison in 1000 A.D., did you stealth it, fight everyone, or waited the three days until Lucca rescued you?

How did Crono's trial go for you?

Thankfully CT is pretty short and getting most of the endings on a second playthrough is pretty easy. So...
    1. Who is your favorite character?
    2. Favorite Time Period?
    3. Favorite Boss fight?
    4. Favorite music track?
    5. Favorite Dual/Triple Tech?
    6. Favorite moment?
    7. Favorite NPC?

It was actually. I'm glad you enjoyed it, especially since it's hard for some people to play older entries and wonder what all the fuss was about. Are you going to check out Radical Dreamers and Chrono Cross now if you haven't already?

If you like Tactical Turn based combat on a grid map, that deals with giant robots and realpolitik then certainly. Don't let the giant robot thing deter you either, the wanzers are simply tools and rarely the focus of the plot which is really more about the various nations all being cutthroat with each other. If you like Tactical RPGs, it's not a bad one to consider.

Ys and Trails, as well as giving Tales of a second chance are all on my bucket lists as well. Still, I've got an itch for Front Mission at the moment, and I'm reminded that I never finished FM4, so I may start a new replay of that one.

I'm still going back through Kingdom Hearts and Front Mission at the moment, but I may chime back in sooner or later.

Interesting Routes: Aqua

by Karifean on 11-30-2017 at 09:21 PM
There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more.

Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample

by Karifean on 11-18-2017 at 01:57 AM
Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website.

Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page

This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here.

I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before,

As of today, Little Busters! English Edition is available for purchase on Steam!

The game is 20% off during its launch week, putting it at a respectable price of around half that of CLANNAD's, even though the two are quite similar in terms of sheer content value (though Little Busters contains

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 12:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 08:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.
