True, but as I said, you need both. Without emotion to drive an idea, nothing would change.

I feel the real issue with people and their inability to make the best choices sometimes stems from how their lives can be. Its hard to care about bigger topics when the mundane bulltrout of your own life saps the will to really consider it. Even a person of low intelligence and schooling could become a philosopher or political thinker if they had the time to think about it instead of worrying about bills, work, and family drama. I feel the real issue is that people in more technological advanced and driven societies are simply overloaded with information and problems that it becomes easier for them to align with a charismatic or emotional plea rather than take the time to consider all the possibilities of a complex idea/solution.

Most politicians know they simply need to say they have a plan to solve a problem. They don't need to explain the logistics of it to the public, just say they have one and convey it as simple as possible. It's how you get demagogues like Trump and Boris Johnson. They just scapegoat the issues as solutions instead of tackling the real root of the problems because there is no easy solution.

I agree that intelligence can be an aptitude. Though I often feel my real issue stems from people being unable to dislodge their feelings from their ideas. While passion is very important in order to drive an idea to the forefront of discussion and implementation; I feel its a double-edged sword in regards to making a person able to step back and compromise on a situation. I feel a lot of political conflicts within governments could be resolved better if people could remove their "all or nothing" attitude from situations because they are too emotionally invested in the outcome.

Yeah, pretty much. I feel it's a good thing to try to bridge the gaps in equality through empowerment. Sadly some people misconstrue this meaning or simply see it as an opportunity.

The discussion of democracy has been an odd one for me in the last few years. It's especially annoying in my country because people tend to have strong and often warped views of what democracy really is. The fact I usually have to bring it to people's attention that we're a democratic republic, and not a democracy says a lot. Don't even get me started when socialism gets brought up. I remember when I was a taking a U.S. history course and got into a heated discussion with my classmates about the Federalist and anti-Federalist movements that broke out after the Revolutionary War when the founding father's were debating about what the new government would be. You don't make a lot of friends when you tell half your class that you don't trust them to make an educated vote on an issue.

If this was a matter of integrity, I would say it does matter why Marvel is doing it. Yet, I feel Slothy largely said what I would say. They may be doing it to capitalize on larger markets and to stay in good standing with a culture that has become increasingly obsessed with social justice, but it doesn't really change the fact that doing so has more benefits for culture and society to make up for their less than noble intentions. I don't really see a down side here so its fine for the moment.

Good video, thanks for linking me to it.

I've always felt XII's writing and character growth were always more subtle than the more bombastic nature people are used to. Matsuno always has a bit of an Elizabethan flair to his writing so his games always feel more like watching a play than a film or TV show.

Not until you brought it to my attention. That is pretty terrible news. That studio has worked on a lot of cool stuff I've loved over the years and it's a shame a lunatic has caused so much suffering for people have really only brought joy into people's lives.

It's been interesting so far, though I'm a bit disappointed on people's failure to find solutions to these troubles.

O h I read my fair share of it, but yes, I don't really engage much myself since I did that enough in RL and I get bored easily by how quickly people fall back to straw arguments to defend their positions. At least with video games/media no one walks away from the argument to the point where they want to murder the person they were arguing with. If they do, then they obviously have bigger problems brewing in their heads.

It is, most of Friede's attacks can outright kill you if you're not careful. That disappearing teleport move alone, if you don;t figure out the trick is practically OHKO.

A Modern Guide to Ys - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA

YS VIII: LACRIMOSA OF DANA

If it's not clear by now, I adore the Ys series. I love how purely fun these games are, I love the simple sense of adventure, and the sense of genuine mystique from uncovering the lore of ancient places of legend. I love the way Falcom humanizes their characters and really makes them feel 'real' in a way other studios' JRPGs struggle to match. And whatever I may have said about Celceta it still is a game that has a lot of that.

YS: MEMORIES OF CELCETA (YS IV)

Time for a quick history lesson! Ys IV's history is a strange one indeed. Back around its initial release there were actually two games that were Ys IV, there was "Ys IV: Dawn of Ys" by Hudson Soft on the PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) CD-ROM, and then there was "Ys IV: Mask of the Sun" by Tonkin House on the SNES. How did that happen? Well Falcom were in a bit of a situation at

A Modern Guide to Ys - Ys Seven

YS SEVEN

Heading into the final era of Ys games and in the series' timeline the chronologically last of the localized games so far we have Ys Seven. Released for the PSP in late 2009 and ported to the PC years later, this game marks a heavy departure from earlier titles in the series in terms of graphics, gameplay and storytelling alike. The shift was met with mixed reception, but given all that came out of it, I couldn't be

A Modern Guide to Ys - Ys Origin

YS ORIGIN

Now for perhaps one of the best-known games in the series, Ys Origin has gained quite a bit of notoriety especially on Steam, probably mainly because its Steam trailer is super hype. Does it deserve it? Well, to put it very simply... hell yeah it does.

As mentioned already, in Ys Origin you do not play as Adol. That's because this game is a prequel to the Ys I & II duology,

A Modern Guide to Ys - Ys: The Oath in Felghana (Ys III)

YS: THE OATH IN FELGHANA (YS III)

The third Ys game was known in the SNES era as "Wanderers of Ys", and was the game to introduce a lot of the western world to the series. Its reputation overall has been mixed, being a sort of "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" of the Ys series, ditching the overhead view for a sidescrolling adventure and as already implied not really being about the land of Ys at all anymore,
