But Karifi. I need to buy an oven. Not games, silly.

Oh yeah, regarding the translations - I heard that the English versions kind of miss all the nice stylings of the original version. Sapkowski uses an interesting blend of archaisms and modern terms (including stuff like genetics) that imo really makes the world of the Witcher unique. And apparently, judging by some German-speaking reddit users, this is retained in the German version to great effect. By contrast, the English version is much more straightforward and "to the point", so to speak.

I mean, it kind of make sense. Since Germany borders on Poland, there's a higher probability for there to be more people with an in-depth knowledge of Polish rather than the US/UK, where knowing a second language is rare in general, let alone a language as niche as Polish.

Sadly, we might not even have time to do it on Halloween proper. The 31st is a regular weekday here, but the 1st is a day off, so that's really when we'd do most of our gaming, I think. Though we might have some time on the eevening of the 31st. We're just... very busy aside from that, and what little free time I have in the week I try to force myself to write (this weekend has been worryingly unproductive for me ). But yeah, figured we should finally get on with those VNs you gifted me since we don't really play much at the moment and it seems like a good time to get into it.

Well then, you can cheer on me from here, so that I can finish my book, and then I can publish it and then it will become a bestseller. And maybe then I'll have enough money for a new phone so I can be around Discord more often again

So like, I think I need to get off the Internet for a while. I'm still very motivated to write - my word count yesterday was twice as big as my Monday score. But now I've been looking at some things I like on the Internet and I see people posting opinions and... I'm scared.

I mean, of course I know I will have to deal with criticism because different people like different things. In that one video WK posted, there was mention of how a pro knows their fear won't go away and just work in the face of it. And I try, but sometimes it gets overwhelming. Like, logically, I know I can't create the perfect work that everyone will like, but I would like to make something like that. And yeah, I'm pretty scared of criticism. I do my best to get the most out of it and make it all constructive, but if I'm being honest with myself, it terrifies me.

I seriously wrote a lot yesterday. If this keeps up, the draft should be done by the end of the year. Can I still count on you to be my beta?

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 12:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 08:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

SubaHibi set for late August release

by Karifean on 07-04-2017 at 01:03 PM
https://twitter.com/frontwingint/sta...91370361507840

So this probably won't be relevant for most people here since non-PG and all, but SubaHibi, one of the most hyped visual novels in recent memory, is set to be released in English in late August.

The method of release is kind of strange, ngl. Apparently they offer the first chapter of the game in all ages on Steam for 30 bucks and then provide

As of just now, Little Busters! English Edition is on Steam Greenlight. While the release date is a vague "2017" it's pretty cool to see *something* happening nonetheless.

Higurashi Ch. 5 Meakashi released on Steam

by Karifean on 04-29-2017 at 12:36 AM
So for anyone following this series, or interested in following it, Higurashi Chapter 5 - also known as Meakashi - was just released on Steam. I felt like announcing this here because it's my favorite arc in Higurashi and one where I feel Ryukishi's talent in writing characters really comes out for the very first time.

You can find it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/57...Ch_5_Meakashi/
