Sometimes it's better to study to raise academics or do something else to increase your performance. You can take on part-time jobs, you can go to bed early for a chance to get into great condition, and there are even a couple of social links only available at night.

Btw, you saying you don't even remember what Princess Mononoke was about made me realize that I don't remember much about it either, despite having loved it, so I rewatched it and... Holy crap, was it even better. It's weird how much more you can realize just ten years later. I still think it's a beautiful movie, but now I see that it has an amazing, universal message that is presented in a way that really does it way more justice than any other Green Aesop/hate is bad movie. Essentially, it's Pocahontas if Pocahontas realized that the spiral of hate turns everyone into monsters and perpetuates itself constantly, even if that hate is pretty much always justified, that all sides of a conflict are "human", in simple terms, and that they're diverse even within themselves, with lots of disagreements and strife even between people who have the same goal. There's a theme of the destructiveness of human ambition, which many movies have, but unlike most, this film shows the true tragedy of the situation: progress IS good for us and we can't just stop it to save nature even though we still need nature very much. We need to accept that something needs to die so something can be born, but we also shouldn't forget to temper that ambition once in a while. And the ending is just perfect - no matter how good your intentions, go kind you are, and how much you do, you cannot just end hate. It's a long process that requires time, patience, both sides healing, and whether it's really possible or not, it's still up in the air. Generations of prejudice won't just disappear because of a magical power of love - but it's a start.

So yeah. The film is even more beautiful than I remembered.
  3. It's good as a hentai. The novel is trippy but hey for VNs it's good. I usually just do Eroge/Hentai VN's.
  4. Euphoria is good.
  5. Of course. Many of them are through my interests with Hentai.
  6. Of course. Then again, I mostly watch anime from my personal golden age(any anime made before 2007).
  7. True. But really I don't think anymore that anime is mainstream. It's pretty much an extremely niche thing aside from the popular shounen stuff like Attack on Titan, One Piece, Sword Art Online, Pokemon, DBZ etc. I wouldn't even call Death Note or Sailor Moon mainstream. Even the mainstream stuff isn't as popular as something like Sports, Disney, TV Sitcoms, etc.
  8. I guess that may sound hipster. When niche things start to stop catering to their niche I feel like they lose their feel and appeal. Especially something as niche as anime before the SAO/AoT boom.

Hopefully going to be getting around to it tonight, or tomorrow night. Adventure Time has absorbed all of my free time recently, but I've finished that (for now) so I guess I got nothing else to do than watch Anime. xD

I will let you know my verdict when it gets watched.
  10. Are you saying:"Some anime are mainstream, but overall the medium is niche?"

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 12:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 08:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

SubaHibi set for late August release

by Karifean on 07-04-2017 at 01:03 PM
https://twitter.com/frontwingint/sta...91370361507840

So this probably won't be relevant for most people here since non-PG and all, but SubaHibi, one of the most hyped visual novels in recent memory, is set to be released in English in late August.

The method of release is kind of strange, ngl. Apparently they offer the first chapter of the game in all ages on Steam for 30 bucks and then provide

As of just now, Little Busters! English Edition is on Steam Greenlight. While the release date is a vague "2017" it's pretty cool to see *something* happening nonetheless.

Higurashi Ch. 5 Meakashi released on Steam

by Karifean on 04-29-2017 at 12:36 AM
So for anyone following this series, or interested in following it, Higurashi Chapter 5 - also known as Meakashi - was just released on Steam. I felt like announcing this here because it's my favorite arc in Higurashi and one where I feel Ryukishi's talent in writing characters really comes out for the very first time.

You can find it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/57...Ch_5_Meakashi/
