So NaNoWriMo is definitely a challenge, but it feels very rewarding. I'm finally making progress on my novel. I may still be on draft zero, and it may be much tougher than my usual stuff, but at least it's some progress. Maybe this is the way to go. Vomiting words and then just polishing it afterwards. Though with such a huge text, it feels a bit overwhelming right now.

I agree. Though I also think one doesn't need to exclude the other

I figured that was the best way I could go around the theme being this immense terrifying thing that there really is no escape from. In the end, though, I think this might have been a mistake, as the theme is heavy, and I'm worried I went a bit too personal before giving the uplifting message.

But yeah, that's what my brain came up with I blame horror stuff for desensitizing me to most things, leaving only derpessing existential stuff to affect me.

Aw, sorry I meant to do it, but we had a long weekend here and my wife was sick, so I really didn't have much time to get on here. But I know what gift you would have gotten!

Well, usually when I mold a character in my head, I usually make up a name right away and stick with it. I try to come up with a name that not only fits their personality, but also how the other characters say the name, since they'll be using the name in dialog much more than the character. Consulting the behind the name website is also always a good source of inspiration

    Ugh tell me about it

The picture doesn't really do this justice, though. I couldn't find a younger picture, but I have this vivid image of her in her younger days where she looked practically identical to that icon.

Btw, the icon with the maid looks like Polish singer Justyna Steczkowska

Thanks Sorry I couldn't reply on steam, my wife took my keyboard so she could play The Witcher

Busy. Almost done with correcting my thesis, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't add to my stress, making me tire more easily. Still, All Saints' Day is a holiday here, so I decided to take Halloween off, so hopefully I can rest during the long weekend.

Also, NaNoWriMo is coming up and I'm hoping to use that to make some decent headway on my book!

Interesting Routes: Aqua

by Karifean on 11-30-2017 at 10:21 PM
There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more.

Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is now on Steam

by Karifean on 11-18-2017 at 02:57 AM
Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website.

Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page

This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here.

I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before,

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 01:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of clichť, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 09:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

This post will contain
