    Sure take your time

Just keep in mind, only the first movie really is reasonably faithful to the series. Later on it goes completely off the rails and it is awesome, especially if you're familiar with how things went down in the original.

Well, I watched it in middle school, so I certainly didn't have the expectations and knowledge that I have now, so I liked it a lot and it certainly gave me a taste for the darker side of storytelling. Nowadays, I think Rebuild is a much better treatment of the material with a much more interesting take on the continuity.

Yeah, i mean, i started watching it late as well, but after reading up on it, I can see how it was a play on people's expectations. If I remember correctly, they did actually air it in the kids' show timeslot initially. Of course, that had to change soon enough.

And how do you even style it that way? Who thought this looked good?
  5. View Conversation
Well, now that I've watched it, I'd still say it looks like Moe Evangelion

I mean, I don't just mean the mecha. More the feel of something light and familiar (dating sim/super giant robot anime) later becoming darker (an apocalypse of some kind/uhhhhhh.... where do I even begin...). Though it does appear that some mecha designs take cue from Evas. Plus, plugsuits?

But I am soooo not digging the art design. The hair. Star hair. Why.

Sorry, just glanced at it as I'm at work. I'll check it out with sound later. But some visual cues are there

    Moe Evangelion? XD

Well, no wonder, really. Time passes, more games come out, our tastes diversify in some ways and get more specific in others. Strong opinions just aren't as strong later. I think that may be a part of growing up, actually. Becoming a bit more distanced from things, seeing them more rationally, etc.

    Good choice!

Well that's good to hear! We'll probably wait for it a bit longer because A) we've made a habit of starting only shows that have already concluded and B) Ania has only seen the anime for the first one, so she wants to play the two games first.

Interesting Routes: Aqua

by Karifean on 11-30-2017 at 10:21 PM
There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more.

Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is now on Steam

by Karifean on 11-18-2017 at 02:57 AM
Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website.

Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page

This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here.

I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before,

As of today, Little Busters! English Edition is available for purchase on Steam!

Store Page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/63...glish_Edition/

The game is 20% off during its launch week, putting it at a respectable price of around half that of CLANNAD's, even though the two are quite similar in terms of sheer content value (though Little Busters contains

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 01:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of clichť, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 09:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.
