Your ignorance goes even deeper than I could ever have anticipated, Makoto. You overlook even the most blatant of evidence against your cause, despite the fact that it's right under your nose.

ATB can offer a fun distraction for those taking a boring commute to work or school. It's a brainless distraction, but it never tries to be anything else, nor invest you in any substantial manner. DoC? That travesty of a game takes long hours attempting to get you invested, baiting you with subtle nods to the original popular product, feeding off our nostalgia, only to feed you the vilest of bile. Dirge of Cerberus is undeniably the worst game of the two simply for the reach it had. At least All The Bravest was nipped in the bud by word of mouth.

You should just give up before you humiliate yourself any further.

So I'm following a walkthrough for IMHHW, right? But the order it has it in, my two favourite would be next and my least favourite would be last. I'm wondering if I should rearrange it. Like, my second favourite next, then my two least favourite, then my favourite last?

And what do you have to substantiate that claim? Hm? The pointless clicking, the money leeching? ATB was fated to be a failure from the start. It had no story, just pure, shameless fanservice. Something that raised no expectations to begin with can't be considered "the worst". It's just nothing more than a shameful stain on the company.

Dirge of Cerberus on the other hand? A haphazzardly constructed story that makes zero sense within the context of an established universe. Mountains of lore that is completely unfitting with what we know of Final Fantasy VII, an idiot scientist who bases all her data on an in-universe fairy tale, a nineteen year old in a 10-year-old's body, color-themed antagonists, not to mention the horrible game system that made Vincent seem cripled, and that damn graphical style that made me want to throw up because it was giving me migraines. And let's not forget Gackt.

Dirge of Cerberus promised to be a sequel to one of the most iconic games of our generation, on one of the most popular systems of all time. And it failed spectacularly. As opposed to a mobile game that many fans of the series overlook due to the medium, and which are very often exploitative money sinks. And that is undeniable proof that DoC is the worse pile of trout of the two.

I think we'll be looking at something more Danganronpa than Zero Escape, if you know what I mean

Still, I'm definitely not complaining about the character diversity! It's great to finally have some personality to go with the portraits!

Btw, great work on that first RP entry! You have quite a pleasant writing style I'm guessing that's from all the reading you do!

So the murder mystery RP started! If you feel like it or want to get your mind off of things, just hop on in Some people have already written some stuff, so getting in shouldn't be too scary anymore.

ANd yeah, if you want to, I'm always there to listen

When you put it that way, I understand. And I am really glad we have a variety of games to cater to people on different areas of that spectrum. But it seems like the "stupid plot, leave it out" camp is probably a vocal minority that nonetheless makes it seem like all games should have simple or non-existent plots to be enjoyable, while games that are more complete packages are mocked, which is stupid.

I'm actually having high hopes for FFXV for this reason. I have no idea what it'll turn out like yet, but it really seems like they're putting great effort into the storyline, making it mature and realistic, and I'm pretty confident it will be good, while the gameplay looks fun and, most importantly, palatable for the mainstream, so perhaps that can break some of that trend?

Interesting Routes: Aqua

by Karifean on 11-30-2017 at 09:21 PM
There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more.

Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample

Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website.

Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page

This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here.

I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before,

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 12:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 08:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

This post will contain
