Yeah, Atlus is a bit slow on giving PC gamers some love.

I can tell you now that I am in the minority of the Persona community that isn't head over heels in love with Persona 4. It's a great game, but I still feel P3 and P2 are better games.

Well I'll jump onto Steam and add it to my wishlist then.

See, and I have a hard time getting excited to play through P4 again because I know the answer to the mystery.

As I've mentioned before, I do need to check out more Visual Novel type games, same with classic CRPGs.

Yeah, it really depends on the type of story and mystery. I had the major mystery ruined for me for both Silent Hill 2 and 3 before playing, but it didn't stop me from enjoying SH2 since its such an interesting character study, whereas it's made going through SH3 a bit more of a chore.

I think the issue I have with the Lana Skye case in Phoenix Wright is that it's pretty much a redo of the Miles Edgeworth case that proceeded it. A high profile prosecuter is framed for a murder that is just a giant cover up for a powerful authority figure who is trying to tie up loose ends for a crime they committed years prior. None of this is helped that the Edgeworth case was more cathartic due to involving several characters you grew to love in the prior cases and felt like a great end to the game, so having this new cast trying to ape better developed characters makes it feel a bit more shallow for me.

My other issue is that the mystery is all the game actually has going for it in terms of gameplay, so figuring out the answer ahead of time is simply making the game reach the same conclusion I figured out, a bit more of a chore than I would care for, especially since the game just keeps adding more roadblocks to reach it. I would have been happier had the final case not been added, because it feels a bit redundant and too long for it's own good.

Oh those parts have been amusing, but I liked the story elements from the prior case against von Karma when Edgey was the defendant a little better.

My main issue is that I've already figured out what's going on, so it's a bit boring just going through the case to figure out I'm right. It's the biggest issue I have with anything in the mystery genre. Once you know the answer, the rest of the story just feels like the writer dragging out or purposely misleading the obvious answer.

Thank you and thank you for your suggestions! Your country is excellent! In some ways it was a shame I was only there for three nights as there was so much more I wanted to do. I didn't have time to get across to Prater for example. I spent a whole day at SchŲnbrunn and then another at the Hofburg area and a few of the museums there and the Museumsquartier. If I ever come back (and I'd like to!) we'll definitely have to meet up, yes!

Yeah, the top floors of Tartarus are kind of weird. Still, I like just being able to slaughter an enemy without having to resort to All-Out-Attack. My usual strategy is to have Satan and Helel and just spam Armageddon to clear out mobs. If you've unlocked Monad though, I would focus on leveling there instead of the top floors of Tartarus.

I know the games are extremely popular, and I know at least one of them is about a series of murders. That's the total extent of my knowledge.

So how's the Persona 3 shebang coming along?

I mean, maybe not completely bad because I AM doing something, but I wish I could just write the thing already

Interesting Routes: Aqua

by Karifean on 11-30-2017 at 10:21 PM
There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more.

Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru is now on Steam

by Karifean on 11-18-2017 at 02:57 AM
Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website.

Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page

This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here.

I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before,

Dies Irae Review

by Karifean on 08-03-2017 at 01:32 AM
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of clichť, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by Karifean on 07-09-2017 at 09:57 PM
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

This post will contain
