So I've noticed you terminated you AA LP?

Glad to help! Ask me anything, anytime!

I dunno, I know a lot of people like it and I know you like it so I hope I'm not upsetting you, that's just how I feel about it xD
Madam, you wound me! How am I able to go on living with this black mark upon my most beloved of stories!

Kidding, of course: can you imagine?

I am with you the offensive aspect. I do feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt in many respects, in that they are attempting to actually lampshade the objectification of women and so on. The characters are meant to be caricatures in many respects. Remember, you are playing the earliest game in the series, and I do feel that is where the worst of the objectification takes place. I mean, the game caricatures people plenty, but I'm struggling to recall where it is as bad or as distasteful as the pink lady.

As for the bubbly-ness: it does happen. You will find all the episode 3's that you will play to be a slog because they've taken on something of a token 'light-hearted' tone. Turnabout Samurai, Turnabout Big Top and Recipe for Turnabout all take on a breather role in the respective games. If you want drama, you'll get plenty in the final cases of each game. Turnabout Goodbyes is pretty weighty, I recall. Rise from the Ashes is a brilliant case, but is a slog purely out of the sheer size of it.

And again, the blatantly illegal thing Phoenix did was probably just to speed the case up. There's a reason why cases take three days, maximum. Imagine the paperwork!

The story doesn't really interest me, the way it's told doesn't interest me, the characters don't interest me.
May be me, but I got into the series because of precisely those reasons. I do agree with your complaints though. From where I can observe, the second game onwards move away from blatant objectification, and more just involves general caricaturing for laughs. Pearls is a lovely character. Maya gets plenty more focus in Justice for All. The final case for JFA really flips the conventions on their heads, too. I'm saying is, give JFA a crack.

What is it specifically are you not enjoying?

From reading your LP, I do get a feeling that the clearly stereotyped characters are grating on you, something I do admit. Turnabout Sisters (episode 2) is very bad in that regard. I do feel that the series matures somewhat over the years. Trials & Tribulations, dare I say, actually becomes quite engrossing and while I wouldn't quite go so far as to say 'dark', it definitely isn't so light-hearted.

If you were interested at all by Maya, her background and the background of Kurain, that all gets explored heavily in both JFA and T&T. Ace Attorney is more about the interactions between Phoenix and Miles Edgeworth.

Goodness, I haven't even answered your question.

PW: Justice for All is a good game. It is a full case shorter than Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, but the cases you do have are good overall. Episodes 2 & 4 are the highlights here; episodes 1 & 3 are alright, but nothing to write home about. Episode 3 is the token amusing case, though, much like how Turnabout Samurai fulfilled that role in the first game.

Meanwhile, T&T I would say is stronger than JFA. The reason for this is the strong cohesive arc that runs across the game. While JFA operates pretty much on isolated episodes, T&T has a strong mystery that pervades it, with particular effect in episodes 1, 4 and 5. You kinda have to play to see what I mean, but it is a very strong entry.

Just for your reference, PW: Ace Attorney, PW: Justice for All and PW: Trials & Tribulations form the original trilogy of games in the series. After that, the games don't tend to reference so much of the characters in these games, debuting plenty of new characters.

Pearly (or Pearl) debuts in PW: Justice for All, and is also featured pretty significantly in PW: Trials and Tribulations.

I'd definitely recommend playing JFA first before T&T. Not only is it the second game in the series, some of the plot points that are opened up in JFA get resolved in T&T.

I'm glad you've taken an interest in the series! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask further!

Laura Bailey is my favorite ever I like Sam Riegel since we're practically sound-a likes, I mean, my Teddie impression is spot-on XD Now that I think about it, a lot of my favorite VAs were in Persona, since Atlus has fantastic voice actors. So, Erin Fitzgerald, Liam O'Brien, Yuri Lowenthal, Michelle Ruff, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, Bryce Pappenbrook, Orion Acaba, Eden Riegel, Vic Mignona (of course XD), Tara Platt, Wendee Lee, Amanda Wynn Lee, Matt Mercer and Cassandra Lee Morris has really impressed my lately as both Edea in Bravely Default and Aoi in Danganronpa

But I think my all-time male favorite is Steven Blum. Damn, that voice is sexy.

Oh man, there's just so many good ones

Yeah, it's awesome! Is it kinda weird that that sort of thing inspired yet another unattainable dream for me, which is getting into voice acting?

So do you have some favorite VAs?
  9. View Conversation
Not yet, I'll get back to you on that front. Thanks once again!

Also, I really appreciate your Facebook status as well; it sums up what I feel about a lot of things. Express yourself more!

Oh, that's Rei from Persona Q. She's one of the two new characters from that game.

Video game site

by Pumpkin on 11-01-2017 at 03:02 AM
Hey guys, I made a fun, silly little video game site. I'll update it weekly with new stuff. I would also like a montly guest feature (there's a nifty one about Telltale right now by our very own KleinerKiller) so if you ever feel like writing about video games, let me know so you can get your stuff out to tens of people. Opinions, reviews, whatever you want. There's also a nifty site poll and I'll attempt a clay sculpture of the first poll winner! So check it out, share with your friends, etc etc.

Tekken Outfits!

by Pumpkin on 06-30-2017 at 05:43 AM
It's time to share the outfits it took me 2000 fights to unlock in Tekken 7! Unfortunately the customization options are somewhat lacking so I had to reuse clothes. Anywho, enjoy and prepare for a lot of pastel colours

Alisa:
(SPOILER)

This first one is just a pallet swap of her default outfit. I like these colours much better. Her hair is also blue and pink, my two fave colours (although not necessarily those shades)

Video Game Fashions: Atelier Sophie!

by Pumpkin on 04-29-2017 at 04:51 AM
Before Firis came along with her nifty outfits, we had Atelier Sophie! Most of the outfits are for Plachta, her companion, but she has two cute outfits of her own.

Also, a lot of these outfits are very... leotardy, so Imma go ahead and just label this whole edition NSFW just to air on the safe side!

So let's start with Sophie:

It's time to dive in to Atelier Firis, which has a nifty outfit system where the outfits actually grant you different enhancements in game! Ordered from least favourite to favourite

Note: I do not remember the actual names of each outfit but that's alright

First is the Wonderland outfit:
