Ha, I actually just poked my nose in that thread. Not sure how close it is to the original, but she looks really cute in your drawing. I'm attempting to struggle through the new voice in Persona 4 again right now lol Just got to spots where the dialog is less voiced, and they just use a random line, word, or phrase to express an emotion while you read the actual dialog. Totally just reminded me of how interactions go in Fire Emblem Awakening where people have conversations with each other in the barracks between battles. Much more tolerable lol

From what I understand of the matchmaking in Harvest Moon I think I'd be fine with it. It's more like a dating sim, than a generations thing. Either that or I'm missing something. Though honestly, upon reflection, I'd probably be fine with the match making in Fire Emblem as well, since it's just one generation, and like you said, it can be couples that actually look like they work, rather than some braindead pairing the writers just thought were cute or something. Especially since there's room for them to protect each other in battle and form bonds you can see in real time. Ugh I want to love that game so badly and just devour it. But I have trouble with any game that's just an endless succession of battles. I always rave about Shining Force, but it also has a couple of games in its franchise that are just battles and story, and I'm not entirely sure I could play through those anymore either lol

Reminds me of Phantasy Star Generations (or PSIII for short). Not really very loved by the fans, but it was totally unique and different, in that you play as 3 different heroes throughout the game, each one the son of the last, and each one has like 2 or 3 ladies they can woo throughout their short story and it changes who the next son will be and what their abilities will be. Or something to that effect

I feel weird about games like that for some reason. Probably because I feel weird about the idea of having kids of my own. There's also a small completionist side to me, and I don't like that I won't be able to experience certain things in a single playthrough, especially of longer games. Or that I may like these two characters and want them to be together, but it's really possible I could be building a relationship that spawns me the worst possible hero and not even know it That lingering fear kinda holds me back

I really had no intention of actively trying to pursue relationships in Fire Emblem Awakening because of that. Which is sad. Not sure why I'm wired that way. Just felt like I was going to be missing out on things, and some weird part of my brain decided that well, might as well miss out on EVERYTHING, and have yet to finish the game lol So dumb

But I am glad those games exist. They open the doors to very dynamic gameplay. Hopefully one day I'll get to enjoy one

Not sure what my favorite Persona 4 character is. Probably the first dude friend you get. Yosuke. He's the butt of a lot of jokes, but they make his character realistic and charming. He deals with real issues about how he's not living up to expectations and he jokes around because he has no confidence and stuff. Really well fleshed out. And so friendly and giving kind and generous and amusing. It's hard to describe. It's funny, since I can't tolerate to romance the girl who's voice they ruined, I joked about "I'll just romance Yosuke, then!" and was half serious. All the characters are super likable. But he's like a kindred spirit character. I really appreciate him. Unfortunately you only play as a guy, and Yosuke isn't down with that xD So it's a bust lol

I actually just played half of Digital Devil Saga myself. It was interesting and trippy but didn't have a whole lot of substance. Very little to the story or characters or location. But all the same I was mildly mesmerized by the dark weirdness

Persona 4 is probably the most likely one you'd enjoy. It is bright and colorful except on the foggy or rainy days. The characters are well crafted and amusing and likable. And there's an easy mode for just enjoying the story

Though it is kinda dark since you're a high school student who feels obligated to investigate super natural murders occurring in your little town

It amuses me that you have a good grasp on the types of games I'll enjoy. I think you're right. I've looked into Agarest and it caught my curiosity but I don't believe I'd spend much time with it. So I haven't taken the dive
