I know! Same here. Poland is whiter than a trail of cocaine. Still, I don't think you should force a race change on your characters if it doesn't feel right. It's downright unnatural because not every environment/setting/group if friends has a lot of PoC in them. Diversity is good, yes, but some groups being whiter than others is also part if that diverse field.

Still, out of the 12, there's two black people, one Asian girl, and a couple who are kind of white mixed with something else, but it's all pretty week. I'm also glad the sexualities came out pretty varied, as there's one gay character, the pan one I mentioned already and an asexual one. I hope I can make this work!

Now, if only non-white characters came to me just as naturally...

So how's your writing coming along? I feel this huge urge to write stuff but I'm stuck translating a philosophical book into English and it's a huge pile of gibberish

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't like the "interrogation techniques" used by the CIA during the US's war on terror. It was one of the factors that led to me deciding to separate from the military.

I think nationalism is like any other belief. It can be good or bad. If people were to take ownership of bad things their country is doing, and work to change it because they don't think their country should be doing those things then it had a positive benefit. I suppose it could be seen as similar to two different parenting types we discussed. The one who takes ownership of their child's behavior and corrects things they believe need to be corrected versus the parent that believes their child can do no wrong because it's their child, so it must always be someone else who is at fault. Their child can do no wrong.

If a person decides that they're going to just wash their hands of the country and say, "I just live here." then while they aren't in support of those actions they aren't doing much to stop them. Sadly, that's how I feel most of the time.
