It's a gay couple, called Eugene and Alistair. Eugene is a self-employed writer, while Alistair is in the Private Investigator profession. I'd like them to get married first, though. I'm sending them on a trip to France, so I might have Alistair propose to Eugene.

I will soon enough. I have a new laptop now, which is strong enough, barely, to play The Sims 3 and several expansion packs (namely, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Seasons and University Life) on low settings. It works fine enough. I can play for about two or three hours before the poor thing calls it quits, but that's good enough. It'd run for longer if I removed one or two expansion packs but they're the ones I prioritize.

What traits do you have on your Sim doppelgangers at the moment shion?

That's very cute! I'm playing the Sims now (well, not right now this minute) and I'm thinking of having my current couple adopt a child. They already have a dog!

I'm guessing Joe is the man of the house then?

I am the authorities.

What version of The Sims 3 do you have? If it's a PC version, you can take screenshots whenever. If it's a console version, I'm not so sure on that one.

In terms of The Sims 3 (I assume it's that one), babies are, frankly quite boring. They're just blanketed up, but they are pretty undemanding. Toddlers require much more effort, especially when you have more than two. I would try to purchase many toddler skill objects (like the building blocks, xylophone thing, toddler books) to give them a real heads up in life. Toddlers are very demanding though, and while I think you get maternity leave in The Sims, I'd try and have someone stay at home and look after those kids

Can you like use the birthday cake to age up kids faster? If you're worried about time, you might do that both for newborns and toddlers (although, for the latter, you might want to first teach them all they need to learn; newborns can be advanced at any point, there fairly useless )

Do not attempt to do it at once. Try one by one. Or try to get increased fertility (that's a lifetime reward - do they have those on your version, or is it a PC-only thing?). Newborns aren't bad but toddlers demand just so much attention
