Oh yeah, the speed really depends on many things. The two chapters I wrote, I wrote in about a day each. Still no progress beyond that but hey! It's possible.

Honestly, I've been kinda doubting my skills again lately, as I'm struggling to even finish a short, but I still hope to have it up soon!

Yeah, chapter length is really fluid, I think. There are books of 90k that have seven chapters and books of the same length that have 100 chapters, so it really depends how you want to space it out. Mendoza once wrote a book that was just one chapter in its entirety. He didn't divide it into chapters at all at first, but then his editor said chapters would be nice, so he said okay and made one. Just one.

Yeah, I'm aiming for 90k as well, but I can already see I'll need to be making cuts. My first two chapters are 12k so far, but I've written them so long ago that I want to rewrite them from scratch anyway

Congrats on getting so many words on your book!

Pro-tip - if you want to publish the traditional way, aim for like under 100k words, but 60k is the minimum. For debut novels, if they're too long, publishers simply won't give you the time of day. You get more leeway once you're a published author that they know will sell (look at the Harry Potter books and how short they were at first and then grew in length with each installment).

Also, how about joining Scribophile? There's tons of writers there, both beginning and professional that are motivated to give thorough critiques of your chapters and stuff through karma points that they can later use to post their own stuff. And don't worry, since you have to have an account to read the writings, this doesn't count as publishing and you will have no problem in getting it out later, legally speaking! I highly recommend it as it really helps you look at your writing from a different perspective.

Thanksgaming III! (Long overdue playthroughs are long overdue)

by Ayen on 11-01-2015 at 02:53 AM
Tomorrow marks the beginning of the third annual Thanksgaming Month hosted by Ayen's Reviews, and the first to be in video format. Thanksgaming is a time of year where we honor the games of yesteryear and those that came out today, and I look forward to sinking my teeth into this year's lineup. Three of which I will be playing for the very first time. It all starts November 4th!

New Camera, Lousy Mic

A few of you know I started doing video reviews of late, and while I got a new camera I'm running into a boat load of problems with it, among other things. Here's a quick video explaining my situation:

Activity will take a hit

by Ayen on 07-23-2015 at 02:00 AM
Last night on the toilet the following thoughts entered my mind: Just give up. You'll never finish a book and you'll never be a published author. So now I have to write a book and get it published to stick it to my inner monologue. Between that and the weekly reviews my posting on here will be cut in half as I want to focus on my writing. I love you guys, but you can be very distracting when people want to be productive.

I'll catch you guys later.

Movie Monday!

by Ayen on 06-23-2015 at 05:52 AM
As evident by this thread I have decided to branch out into cinema. Those who have been following me for a while will know that I already dabble in this medium in the past with my Mario, and Street Fighter reviews, but those were more looking at an adaption from the eyes of a gamer than your casual movie goer, so they may remain as part of my video games section.

Every Monday I'll look at a different movie and post it on my blog before sharing it here. Like my games there's no cutoff
