I didn't mean for this to turn into a debate. I was just looking for some comfort. I apologize if anything I've said has been unclear. I've been suffering from brain farts lately.

*frowns* I'm sorry if I offended you. I did not mean to imply one was easier than the other. Just that people from my experience hold onto the belief that the majority of internet critics all go in looking for something to hate and nitpick in order to find something negative to say, even if it's done in a funny way. Places like Channel Awesome being used in such examples.

I disagree that it's next to impossible, though. It's crowded, sure, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Otherwise no one would be at the top, but they got there somehow. There are several popular blogs out there, after all. My initial concern was in reaction to how people view critics in general, which tend to be negative wherever I go, but I can see my concerns are misplaced. I get plenty of traffic to my blog, not much conversation, but plenty of traffic.

That's publication, I'm an internet critic. The title carries its own stigma. My concern lies with people giving me a chance, not the content itself.

Good to hear. I'll have to tear myself from the outside world to get this review done over the weekend.

It's a bit different for me because I'm a critic. People generally need to have some interest in what I have to say, if not interest in the game itself, to visit my blog. The stigma I see for my chosen field doesn't help matters.

    How are you, btw?

Ever feel like you're in a career field where people don't give a crap what you have to say? Because I'm starting to feel that way and it's negatively affecting my work.

Well, that and the procrastinating, but I do that every week.

The initial suggestion was that I ought to perhaps do a tongue in cheek agony uncle column. This came about because out of sheer and utter boredom I started reading The Sun's "Dear Deirdre" page in humorous voices and interjecting my own vitriolic commentary. It was quite glorious, especially when I got the juicy stories like "I'm in love with my sister" or some crap like that.

This is true. My colleagues want to be allowed to have me write a humourous column for the company newsletter. Except we think HR may take exception to me being a ridiculous arsehole. Or as I put it today when I said "Damn, if you can't even write it properly, you shouldn't be allowed to threaten litigation to a company it's just not fair on you when they stomp all over you in court" only to have a friend who can't spell for toffee remind me of this go "Yes, but I'm an Intellectual Bastard, did you expect anything different?"

I don't intend to torture you by suggesting purely trout books to read though

Well less pleasant wording is fine by me Though I'm almost worried to know what your commentary of Twilight would be like xD

John the Pharmacist (EoFF: Would you like to help me pay my bills?)

by Miss Mae on 08-05-2014 at 03:05 AM
I recently wrote a short story that's been put on a website. If it gets enough shares and/or ratings, I have a chance to win some serious cash prizes, which would be really helpful for me right now! So, if you have a chance, it'd be great if you could go here (http://contestfiction.com/john-the-pharmacist/) and share my story on your social media or rate me 5 stars at the bottom left of the page (if you think I deserve it, at least).

Here's the beginning of the story,
