California has some excellent ones. Israel too. China and Taiwan are the OG lychees makers, though. You should be able to squeeze it gently without the skin popping open when they're ripe, and they should smell really perfumey. They're best for a couple of months in the summer.

I was actually thinking exactly the same thing. I think this may be a test of my teachering skills. If I abandon them and go feral, they'll know not to hire me. Best of all; the place is famous for its lychees. My god, I love lychees. Best... fruit? in the world.

I imagine that most boats that sail aren't attacked by pirates. If they are, the world is more awesome than I thought (lol kidnap and murder). I just really want to see the green flash some day.

Is it hell! I'd blooding love to take a cargo ship to China! I actually intend to go on a long haul cargo ship one day; spend a month or more out at sea. It's expensive, though, so I'd have to save for it. Maybe that's how I'll return to France?

Just got an email from the school. I'll be arriving at the start of the Spring Festival, a two week holiday. A two week paid holiday. And the school is going on a camping trip to a tropical island during which I can do my training and meet everyone in pretty much the perfect setting.

Aye, it's magnifient. I intend to hike up the mountain that has Buddhist temples everywhere and watch the sunrise. Along with exploring limestone caves - IN A BOAT, HOLY trout - and the various beautiful things around.

Aye, I should do. I intend to meet Keith, since he's at Shenzhen, which is only a horrific 20 hour night bus ride away.

Surprisingly, lots of people. Most of my friends couldn't give a trout about China and have no desire to visit it or me.

I'll be in Guiyang, Guizhou. It's one of the most beautiful provinces of China, apparently. Not a bad start.

Work. I teach English. I've always wanted to go to China, so it's pretty much the perfect opportunity.
