With all of that out of the way, all you really need for the actual brewing is getting the yeast, malt and hops that you want. The brewing progress itself isn't too bad really. Just time-consuming. The fun and excitement makes up for that though. I'd recommend finding a recipe that you then adjust, rather than experimenting wildly though, for the first few beers at least. That's what I do.

I'd recommend just reading up on what you need and how to do on the internet. It sounds like a pain in the ass, but isn't too bad at all once you've managed to get started. And sharing beers would be totally awesome.
