Did you read the paperback version of the hard? I read hard, and it used em dashes. Does the paperback (if that was the one you read) use em dashes or a simpler dash?

There IS a hyphen I can't believe you remembered that. It must have been traumatic.

It is supposed to be the opposite. Maybe that is why King put the hyphen in there. Did he put the hyphen in there? I can’t remember. There is no hyphen in real life, though.
