I was thinking of the note, but I must admit that I have never felt too comfortable with the C# chord or its variants. If I had a choice, I'd go for the C barre shape, but often I find the high F to be too low in pitch for the melody I wish to play, so I must play one of the more difficult versions instead. The A barre is particularly irritating because I have pudgy fingers and I often mute the high G# note and the whole thing sounds muffled and horrible. Sometimes I get so angry that I just play the song in another key to spite the C# chord. It doesn't seem to care, but it makes me feel better.

The actual note or the chord? ...or the programming language? Just today I’ve been trying to get a C♯ chord. You know, the one which is an open C moved one fret away from the nut, and with the top (E,B,G; I call them the top) 3 strings barred. I think you could say standard C♯ chord? I don’t know much about this stuff. Normally I would just do an E-shaped barre on the 9th fret... a long way to go, especially when I’m in a lower position, but I’m not too quick with the A-shaped barre (on my acoustic guitar, anyway; unsurprisingly I find the A-shaped barre much easier on an electric, but I don’t have that with me at the moment).
It’s not the distance that bothers me, because I can do an A minor barre on C♯ with ease... my hands are just too small to do the A-shaped barre efficiently, and though I AM ABLE to get that bastard with a double barre, much of the time I can not bend my ring fingure at the appropriate angle, so I always get an upsetting ‘clunk’ on either b, or e, or both.

So I set out to find a more efficient C♯ chord. Now, I have very little knowledge of guitar theory or whatever you call it, so I had to hit up google to help me find a site which would teach me the notes to ring. I must admit that my first impression of the chord was not a good one; it was quite intimidating, and I would prefer something easier... but after a few hours, I was able to feel more comfortable with it.

Of course I had to go frolicking around in some godforsaken garden, and I ended up with a big fat bee stinger in my left wrist. Naturally, it was not long before my hand and forearm had bloated to a horrendous size. Thankfully the swelling stopped at my knuckles; for the most part, my fingures were spared (my thumb was not so lucky). Unfortunately, strumming motions are extremely painful, so while I can still fret the C♯, I can’t strum it to see if I am actually fretting it correctly.
And yes, I am aware that I could use my fingures to strum or even just pluck—I tried that, and while it did work, it got boring fairly quickly. Yawn.


If you just mean the note, then OK. That’s fine by me. I’m not bothered by it at all, really.

If it’s any other C# or C♯ that ticks you off, then that’s most likely fine by me, too. Especially if it’s the programming language. That ticks me off as well. Not that I’ve ever tried to use it :shifty: :notnerd:
