It's not so much like a creaking but like...POPPING sounds. Like a crack. Probably the same in terms of terrifyingness.

That thought first entered my mind when the Oklahoma man blew up a daycare center. That was when I was like 10 or so. Ever since then, at night, I am CONVINCED I can hear beeping somewhere near the house. Beeping and then a bomb will explode and I will be gone or burned terribly.
