She almost did at least once!

Yeah, good idea. If you had...she might not have recognized you in the state she was in, and could have killed you.

I’m not sure. The place was a small moss patch in the woods behind my father’s house, and it was hard to tell when she left to go there. I never followed her, anyway, because it was always a kind of Do Not Disturb thing.

Did she make offerings to it?

There was a gnome in my mother’s secret garden. That’s where she would go when daddy was mad at her.

Garden gnome. Winklebottom and Figgleforth.

Some kind of elf? Gnome? Yielite?

And those EYES. Poor thing. I had a stuffed animal thing that was a fish and it had both eyes on one side of its face. It was at least a nice periwinkle, though.

That is the color he is doomed to be.
