I used to like to find the shed (it would take a long time, and I often got lost) and sit there and imagine its past. Weird stuff. I wasn’t afraid of going inside, though there was nothing interesting; a few jars, a stool, and maybe a mattress (that could have been improvised, though).

Why would you chain up goats? Is there some obvious answer I'm missing?

Not quite! But he did once have a bridge. Not a drawbridge, unfortunately. I would have liked that.

He hasn't constructed a moat, has he?

He’s not like, unfriendly, but... I don’t know. It’s really hard to describe. He has weird moods.

He can't stay unfriendly forever.

I guess my dad is the most isolated of them all... all cooped up there, in his weird fortress with his young wife and a new child that nobody has seen... a little like Tom Cruise. :p It’s weird, because his house is on the same property as my grandmother’s, which is like the HUB for the whole family.
